I love this concept of turning food relief packets to something useful, especially if used in disaster struck areas. The idea is to bundle food (rice) and water into this brick-like module, which can later be used to build temporary shelters. Thanks to their Lego inspired shape, the UNICEF Brick structures promise to be sturdy as temporary shanties.

P2 is a water purifier system that dispenses clean water the normal way – through a spout plus has a detachable water-purifying jug that you can carry out with you. So basically you’re not restricted to taking water from the main body unit, which by the way dispenses both hot and cold water. Its ideal for an office environment or maybe hospitals and cafeterias; anything that makes water – queues short!

The WaterStation is a refreshing new take on water filters that we find at food courts and supermarkets. Generally the dispensing machine allows you take water by the glasses. This new redesign includes water bottles that you can take to your table, use and then dock it back for refilling. If nothing else, this new idea will save me countless trips to the water filter and make food courts a better experience.

The other day I went to pick up some dishwashing detergent when I noticed they were selling food detergents now. I’ve always just used water to rinse off my foods but sometimes you need something harsher. The WOW Water Sterilizer uses electrolysis to eliminate harmful bacteria in everything from fruits, veggies, kitchen appliances as well as baby bottles and chew toys – all without chemical detergents. Sign me up.

The Life is a recycled paper-made water container designed for Milano Expo 2015. The idea is to dissuade people from using plastic bottles and use this one-day-use bottle instead. It’s crafted from natural cotton and recycled paper layer and it doesn’t use any chemical ink or adhesives that are tough to recycle. The handy green cord makes it easy for you to carry it along. Oh, and the proposal does include having water fountains around the expo area so that you can refill it several times during the day.

Scrubbing is a very important factor when cleaning dishes and this has to be done perfecto! There’s no way around it. Keeping this in mind, Domus student Pietro Russomanno designed the KEWA concept, an acronym for Kinetic Efficient Water Appliance. It’s basically a dishwasher that uses air pressure to direct water through kinetic jets to create a ‘water-blade’ that cleans the greasiest of stains.

I love its compact, counter-top minimalist design helping it to blend into the kitchen space. However, my only worry is the fate of delicate china but we all know those should always be hand washed anyways.

Look at the irony in nature, the very same river that quenches your thirst turns into a toxic monster once it floods your city. The Health Light is a solar powered system that looks at alleviating such situations. You simply need to set up the purifier in bacteria contaminated water and let it do its work. Pretty soon it detoxifies a considerable amount of water through a filtration process and makes it fit enough to be consumed.
