Sublime Form of Ovum

5:00 pm in 未分类 by Radhika-Seth

The boxy classic form of washing machines has rarely seen any refreshing innovations. Yes, the tech aspects have seen performance shoot up; we get cleaner whites, brighter colors and drier washes. To step up the game and break into fluid aesthetics, we have here the Ovum Concept. Inspired by the natural form of a pebble, the Ovum hope to evoke a more sophisticated stature for this humble appliance. If you have the space, then surely go for it!

Dhobi Ghat Special

7:44 pm in 未分类 by Radhika-Seth

Besides the washing machine, most Indian women depends heavily on the Dhobi (aka washer man) to wash the house linen. Heavy-duty laundry is always assigned to this curious breed of people (dhobi), who carry their load to the nearest dhobi ghat and manually launder the towels, bed sheets, trousers etc. Crisp ironed linen and clothes are handed back after a week and the next stack is lined up for collection. Indra is a concept washing machine to aid the dhobi with his washing and make life more easier for him.

Manual labor is cheaper in India than using electricity and machines. Thus the Indra is designed on this premise. A look at this video here will give you an idea on how the dhobis function.

Incase you are wondering, my dhobi comes in every Monday for collecting the clothes!

Sexist Washing Machine

10:09 pm in Concept by Radhika-Seth

The idea behind the Almighty Laundry washing machine is that single men are usually busy executives with laundry as the least of their worries. So much so that it gets ignored most of the time. So what this machine tries to do, is cut down a few steps in the washing process so that you can just load in a rack full of stale, stinky shirts and bring out a lineup of fresh no-ironing needed stack!

Amazing idea; separate compartments for the boxer shorts, socks and towels have been considered. What I really like is the unconventional form of the machine; a rectangular closet-style rack that fits in tight spaces. So mister designer, what will your take be for a single woman? We can be busy executives too!

Almighty Laundry is a 2011 Spark Awards entry!

Ten Innovative Ways to do the Laundry

6:22 pm in 未分类 by Radhika-Seth

Ask anyone what is the most dreadful household chore they have to do, and unanimously we hear, it’s the Laundry! Washing dishes comes a close second, but we’ll deal with that later. For now lets take a look at ten innovative and futuristic methods of doing laundry, with the possibility of making them a fun chore! Yeah right!

10) Air Wash by Wendy Chua & Gabriel Tan

Hate messy detergents and the thought of wasting water? The Airwash is just right for you. It uses pressurized air and negative ions to do the cleaning, killing two steps in the process…soaking and drying!

9) Dismount Washer by Lichen Guo

If you are crazy about personal hygiene when washing clothes, then Dismount is what you’re looking for. An energy stick powers wall-mounted tubs, which are good enough to hold personal laundry only. No sharing of tub space with other people’s clothes.

8 ) Aquarium Washing Machine by Djordje Zivanovic

The usually perception of a washing machine this boxy thang that occupies a lot of space. The Aquarium breaks the myth by coming across as a sleek sphere of mechanical goodness!

7) Laundring by Shang-Che Wu

The Laundring uses pedals to drive a coaxial bi-directional rotating mechanism that generates high cleaning two-way flow to clean all dirty laundries. In short it’s a better alternative to hand washing and bacterial spread amongst clothes.

6) iBasket Concept by Guopeng Liang

The iBasket is a hamper, washer and dryer rolled into one. Essentially you just need to keep piling your clothes into the basket till its fully loaded. Once it’s topped-up, the cleaning/drying process kicks into action; the system sends you an email or text message (via WiFi) that the clothes are ready for the next step – ironing! Arrgh!

5) Re-cycle Laundry Center by Fernanda Villanueva & Arturo Ariño

Re-cycle Laundry Center is a three-unit setup with each unit holding its individual function. One unit acting as water storage and filtering tank; recycling the spent water from a previous wash, supports the green-factor. Dryer and cleaner make up the other two units.

4) Easy Living Washing Machine by David Genin

In a house full of people, your own dynamics for laundry may differ from the rest. In such situations you need an individual pod to do your thang and then get going with your invincible chore. Easy Living offers you the freedom of washing smaller batches of laundry using steam technology. What this means is I get to do my laundry when I want, without having to wait for my family to load up the basket with their clothes. Sweet!

3) Mr. Klein by Yoon Kisang

Mr. Klein is personalized underwear cleaner that uses recycled water for cleaning. It’s small in size and intended only for your innerwear. Something that big families should consider.

2) Individual Washer by Yali Dai

Ideally we should be sorting our laundry by color and then by fabric and this translates to many loads, some of which may not be big enough to warrant an individual wash cycle. The Individual Washer solves this problem by integrating compartments instead of a single bin. This ways you can wash your clothes with proper segregations.

1) Lupe by Il-seop So

The Lupe cuts your laundry chore by 3-steps, in one suave motion you can clean, sanitize and iron your clothes. Can’t get better than this, it’s my favorite!

Modern Washing Machine Concept Sits Right Inside the Closet

10:44 am in Design, Eco Friendly, Furniture, Home Appliances, Modern Design by chris

We showed you plenty of home appliances so far, including various washing machines concepts but they were not like this one. This modern washing machine concept is made for the busy professional that requires utmost efficiency. The washing machine will be installed right inside your closet and that's where you will deposit your dirty shirts in the evening only to find them clean and fresh waiting for you in the morning. The washing machine uses humidity, ionization, ozone and air pressure to do away with all the dirt and thus you'll have clean clothes to wear right from your closet, without you having to drop off and pick up dry cleaning on your way to and from work. The question is, what happens with all the dirt and bacteria that get removed from your clothes? Via Yanko Design

The Double Drum Washing Machine Washes Black and Whites at The Same Time

10:14 pm in Concept, Design, Home Appliances by chris

The Double Drum washing machine in the images below is a very interesting concept that will totally change the way you plan your loads. The washing machine has two drums, which means it will let you wash two different loads at the same time. The outer drum will handle your regular clothes, the one that don't require any special attention when washing, while the inner drum will handle the more delicate items. That means you'll be able to wash colors and whites at the same time without worrying about any potential clash of the colors. Not to mention that you get to save water and electricity in the process since you're doing two loads at once. I wonder if each drum will have it's own specific washing program. Via Yanko Design

Polyp Laundry Basket Holds Dirty Clothes On the Wall

11:34 am in Design, Home Appliances, Home Storage, Home Storage & Shelving, Small Home Furniture by chris

Are you looking for a way to recycle the space used by your current dirty laundry basket? Well why not replace it with the Polyp Laundry Basket, an interesting basket design that's meant to be mounted on the wall of your choosing. The Polyp Laundry Basket cab be easily attached to a wall in you room and used to store dirty laundry. Whenever each of the three baskets is filled, you can simply remove it from the wall and carry your clothes to the washing machine. Each basket has as much storage space as your laundry machine so whenever it fills up you'll have exactly one load of dirty clothes to deal with. The only problem with the Polyp Laundry Basket is explaining the design to your visitors. As daring as this design is, the fact remains that it stores dirty clothes, which are available for anyone to see. Via Helene Steiner
