Marcel Wanders Unveils Eden And Babel Series For xO

12:45 am in Chairs, Modern Furniture, Modern Furniture & Design, Stools, Tables, Vases, Wood by Tanya

As purveyors of the modern A&D scene, Marcel Wanders has always been one of our favorites. His recent collections once again proves why Wanders is a design force to reckon with. The "Eden" and "Babel" collections may have Biblical names but thats where the religious connotations end. Developed in conjunction with the French Furniture company xO, the former is a series of vases, tables and stools while the latter a collection of chairs. For Babel, Wanders had worked with materials like wood, plastic, acrylic and for Eden he has favored glass and ceramic.

Sidetrack Table – An Employee’s Worst Nightmare

7:25 pm in Modern Furniture, Office Furniture, Tables by Tanya

While I personally don't like be changed to my work desk, the uber cool Sidetrack table may just change my opinion. A brainchild of design students, Jacek Barcikowski, Jennifer Kay and Martina Pagura, Sidetrack outlines your working (or lack of it ) routine by drawing a pattern. This feat is achieved by the built in sensors which tracks ones movements and the on board marker illustrates the movements on the table itself. Definitely not recommended for those believe in procrastination.

Works of industrial designer Tokujin Yoshioka are quintessentially modern and sculpturistic in nature and the the "Waterfall" Table is no different. Having the distinction of being the world's largest optical glass table, "Waterfall" once again solidifies Yoshioka position as one the most critically acclaimed Asian designers. Commissioned by a private gallery in Tokyo, "Waterfall" measures a whopping 4.5 meters and will be seen at the 'Spectrum' exhibition at Beyondmuseum in Seoul, Korea.

Cool Balancing Boxes Bedside Table from Porro Furniture

5:40 pm in Art, Coffee, End & Side Tables, Cool, Decorating, Design, Furniture, Table, Tables by John

I have to say that I love this bedside table from Porro Furniture called "Balancing Boxes". It was created by the Swedish design group "Front", whose four members include Anna Lindgren, Katja Sävström, Sofia Lagerkvist and Charlotte von der Lancken. The concept of boxes providing storage and acting as a table top surface is an insightful idea. The way the boxes pivot on themselves melds both art and furniture into one statement. At Milan Design Week 2010 : Bright Woods Chairs And Tables

11:38 pm in Chairs, Italian, Milan, Modern Furniture & Design, Tables by Tanya

Lets admit it, there is something utterly fascinating about shiny glowing objects. While the A&D object is not known for producing furniture that glows, maybe the Bright Woods' collection of illuminated chairs and coffee tables will change this! Seen first at the Milan Design Week, the collection has been conceptualized by Giancarlo Zema for the Avanzini Group who does a wonderful job of breaking away from the clique but still achieving a consumer-friendly vibe. The Bright Woods' collection is made from natural materials like wood and resin and is ideal for both indoors or outdoors use.

Spaces consist of household objects that individuals have a direct contact on a daily basis and the collection is split into four categories which are intimate, personal, social and public. All objects in the exhibit are an amalgamation of style and functionality and some of our favorites from the collections are the Escritoire Computer Desk, the Prism Table, the Ripple Chair and the Visage Room Divider.
