The Sony EYEDIO speaker brings expert-level directional sound to the average user. The unit is capable of pinpointing sound, localizing it to a specific area so that only people in the audible zone can hear it. Thanks to its eye-inspired shape, EYEDIO can move in any direction, horizontal or vertical, without moving its location. Music For Everyone

If you are the kind that likes to share their music with everyone, then the Whooom concept will tickle your fancy just right. The system comprises of six speakers and one docking station. Each speaker is powered by their individual battery and charge via induction when hooked up to the main dock. The units communicate through WiFi and have a very Tron like vibe, looking extremely sexy in dim lights.

Bell Sound

The Bell Sound speakers are an unconventional twist on home audio that are composed of super-strong parallam, an engineered wood material most often used in the construction industry. To contrast the natural wood tone, each speaker rests on a hand-turned aluminum base. Though modern in material, the elongated, exaggerated bell shape hints to the design’s original inspiration- the gramophone.

The Bang & Olufsen Play concept is a hybrid speaker system that seamlessly transforms from full-fledged automotive surround-sound to a transportable compact boom box. The idea: why spend money on both a premium car sound system and a portable radio when you can have both in one easy-to-use product? Charge it in the car and use it when you’re camping, hanging at the beach, or for those spontaneous moments that just need a little background music.

Appropriately named the Boompack, this portable audio design was inspired by the iconic ’80s boomboxes often seen on the shoulder of rappers and breakdancers. Designed with these street-performers in mind, it’s easily transportable and usable while moving. What makes it truly unique is a orientable 200 lumen Pico projector for adding moving video or slideshows that take the entertainment to the next level. Not just for street performers, it’s also perfect for parties, the beach, or cruising on your bike.

So the party season is here and you are all geared up to go out and have a good time. Perhaps even entertain at home! While many of you may be as suave as Leonard, a few of us belong to the Rajesh Koothrappali category and can do with a little help in breaking the ice. Oh well, we are in luck! Product design is one ammo that always comes to our rescue and here are three cool ways to get a conversation started. Have a look and tell me what you think!

Wear The Brass Sometimes Watch by Dennis Guidone [ Available @ YD Store for $140 ]

The palette of Sometimes is both contemporary and classic, with elongated hands juxtaposed against the black dial. The second hand aligns with the minute and hour for but a moment. The independent movement of the seconds appear to be out of sync with time itself.

Other than its unique donut shape, this USB rechargeable MP3 speaker is made of recycled pulp. It is ultra light despite its look and size. The vibration inside the hollow space of the speaker amplifies the sound. After a series of trial and error processes, this speaker was born with unexpected potency of sound volume and quality. Environmentally and design conscious!

Sip Tea With The Fish Cups and Heat Pads by Inno.park [ Available @ YD Store for $50 ]

Put on a show! The way this beautiful set works is that you place your warm tea cup on the pads and when you lift it up to sip your drink…vola! There is a bight orange fish swimming on the pad. The metal plates on the bottom of the cups allow you to place fishes anywhere on the pads when the cup reaches 68°C. Create your own school of fish, sit back, start a conversation and enjoy.

The Brit Speaker’s Marriage

The designers of the Josiah DAB Radio and Bluetooth Speaker call their creation the marriage of British ceramic heritage from Stoke-on-Trent with the simplicity and playfulness practiced by the Soho design team. An interesting explanation for a handmade ceramic creation! Anyways, the speakers are deigned with wit and functionality and will look great right next to my Buddha plant.

It’s time to get literal in the music universe with a vinyl speaker that’s not just made out of vinyl, it’s got the look and feel of a vinyl record album as well. This conceptual design would have a 12-inch platter up on the wall with NFC technology making the connection between the amplifier inside and the smartphone in your pocket. With a simple pull of the disk you’ll also have amplified sound with a cone-shaped bit of physics on your side.

Having seen some rather similar designs in our day as far as physical amplification of sound goes, it wouldn’t be out of the question to have this device entirely mega-popular out in the streets. We’d love a few for the office, that’s for sure!

Buzzworthy Speaker

The Honeycomb Bluetooth Speaker was inspired by the naturally occurring substance’s unique geometric combination of shapes. The result is this wireless, elegantly styled speaker that provides 360 degrees of streaming high quality sound. The outer honeycomb shell is both aesthetically striking and structurally stable, not to mention perfect for delivering crisp sound.
