Tension Table

4:01 pm in Furniture, Table by Troy Turner

Dock is the result of designer Alexandre Pain’s reflection on the themes of simplicity and lightness. The stripped-down side table avoids glue, screws, and dowels and instead uses elastic bands and tension to fix the legs to the body. The unconventional construction not only cuts back on hardware costs but also means that assembly and disassembly can be repeated without compromising quality.

Irreducible Simplicity

4:01 pm in Desk, Furniture, Table by Troy Turner

Invisible City’s premier collection of handmade furniture, Incunabular, begins with this interesting tripodal side table that designer Simon Moorhouse describes as having “irreducible simplicity.” The collection is handmade in southeast England and blends traditional craftsmanship with innovative modern design presented in high quality and sustainably sourced walnut, ash, or oak.

DIY, FLat-pack Bamboo and Glass

3:01 pm in Coffee Table, Furniture, Table by Troy Turner

Gotta love this simple, flat-pack, DIY design by designer Tamara Petrovic. The Star Table is the result of a study in form triangulation and features light frame construction that consists of 4 thin planes that interlock to form a lightweight, strong and stable base.

Simple and Timeless Furniture

3:01 pm in Furniture, Seating, Stool, Table by Troy Turner

When it comes to furniture, I love pieces that are organic in form but sharp enough to fit into the starkest of spaces. This line of furniture by escapefromsofa achieves this balance through style characterized by simplicity, and natural shapes in warm walnut and oak. The bookshelf, stool, side table and chair each have clear Scandinavian influence expressed through phenomenal craftsmanship.

tABLE

4:16 pm in Furniture, Table by Troy Turner

I love this thoughtful table design by Elda Bellone. Born as part of the designer’s “open object project,” tABLE consists of two overlapping tables that merge together seamlessly thanks to perfectly carved spaces in the lower table’s legs. Need an extra surface? Simply pull the upper table off to form two entirely separate and useful entities. Once apart they can be placed side by side, overlapping, or even separated into entirely different spaces as each individual table looks great with or without the other.

Sculptural Impulse

3:01 pm in Furniture, Table by Troy Turner

The name may leave little to the imagination, but the beauty of the Curved Dovetail Console Table lies in the process. The intricate dovetail joinery and unpredictable curves that highlight this piece were achieved by designer Nico Yektai’s willingness to let spontaneity take over. Using only a rough 3D model for the general shape, Yektai hand-carved the joints, legs, before applying his unique clamp wood-bending process to the supporting structure, yielding a design that blurs the lines between designer and sculptor.

Animorphia

4:01 pm in Furniture, Seating, Table by Troy Turner

Did you ever see the scene in Beetlejuice with those walking, crawling, creepy chairs? They were undeniably awesome. Well these pieces won’t follow you around trying to catch you, but they are the next best thing. Though inanimate and lifeless, the Animorphia collection by Toot Chen expresses the exact opposite by exploring the stretches of the imagination and drawing from the posture motions and natural interactions of animals. Awww, look at that cute family of wild side tables.

Alternating Current Table

4:01 pm in Coffee Table, Furniture, Table by Troy Turner

Drawing inspiration from the steel lattice of electric transmission towers, the Pylone series of tables incorporates the interwoven support structure of an industrial icon into it’s robust design. The tinted glass top allows the viewer to catch a glimpse of the underlying sharp lines and abrupt connections that shape it’s bare-bones framework.

Fussy Yet Minimalistic

4:03 pm in Design, Furniture by Long Tran

It’s easy to dismiss a simple table when there’s a superfluous design element, but I like the architectural form of this Side Table. The randomly placed rails also constitute the legs. There’s a fluidity in the design, emphasized by the softly curved wood surfaces. What appears to by unnecessarily complex makes total sense.

Plug-in Side Table, One Light Stand by Your Bed

8:37 am in Bedroom Furniture, Lamp, Light by chris

This Plug-in Side Table is not only going to act as a really neat night stand for your bedroom but it's also going to bring light to the room whenever light is needed. Depending on how you're looking at it this Side Table doubles as a lamp or as a bedside table, but either way you're the winner here if deciding to opt for such a design. The only thing that might be a problem is that the Plug-in Side Table might not match the height of your wall sockets so some wall remodeling will be required to accommodate this piece of furniture / lamp. But you like the Plug-in Side Table, don't you? Via Decoist
