It is always interesting to see what type of objects can be made into artistic statements. These airplane trolleys are the very ones that slow up plane boarding to provide food for passengers. Typically they are pretty beaten up just from the normal wear and tear associated with the airline industry. Andreas Flach from ND Designworks has shaped the trolleys into accessories for the house. The 22 carat gold example has gold leaf applied and then varnished on the object. More information: here.

As the furniture world gets more into recycling and renewable resources it is nice to see that the folks at Motoart are turning old retired aircraft parts and segments in to everything from beds, desk, bars, lighting and much more. The “Mile High Bed” shown here was designed and fabricated from two DC-9 rear stabilizers and a C-130 inner flap. The bed is 11′ long x 7′-6″ wide x 4′-6″ high. Other finishing touches include 1/2″ Plexiglas accents, illuminated with internal LED lighting, and surfaces that are sanded to a mirror polished finish. See the entire collection of really innovative furniture for the aviator in your life here.
