The Sólo is a modular traffic signal that can be easily disassembled and used for other purposes. A good example is the event of a road mishap, and how the lights can be intelligently used to create a detour for oncoming traffic. Even for road repairs; if the street is closed, may as well use the lights for marking out the hazard space! Clever use of LED lights ensure eco-sense and the modular format give the lights the versatility to be used in numerous circumstances.

Here’s the ugly truth about hip new phones coming out every few months, they cause lust and shallow values. That’s right; every time the new iPhone is out, I want the new shimmy. I go ahead and replace my old trusty without a thought or passion! Hey wait a minute, isn’t this our life story too? Anyways, the point is, the least we can do is forge a deep emotional relationship with our gadgets, deep enough to hang on to them for quite some time and just for the sake of posterity keep upping their modular innards to keep them up to date! Something like this Modai Phone.

Because they usually come in limited sizes, finding the right room divider can be tricky. Ferma, however, provides a simple, customizable solution in the form of a modular system consisting of thin circular sections & connecting elements. The concept allows the user to construct the screen in an unlimited combination of sizes & shapes – from small to large. Though the construction is minimal, the structure is strong enough to support other furniture elements like shelving or a glass top. Great for defining spaces in contemporary & classic environments alike.

It’s quite the trend to have suitcases with an expandable hood to accommodate more clothes and stuff. However very few have stopped to consider vacuum packing clothes, to make more space. The Pumpack is one such suitcase design where it includes a pump that helps to compress clothes to make more packing room. For those who are going to complain about creases, I suggest you carry a travel iron. I for one think we need to develop this design thoroughly!

I love this concept of turning food relief packets to something useful, especially if used in disaster struck areas. The idea is to bundle food (rice) and water into this brick-like module, which can later be used to build temporary shelters. Thanks to their Lego inspired shape, the UNICEF Brick structures promise to be sturdy as temporary shanties.

If it were only a sleek toolbox, I wouldn’t have even set a glance on the Toolstair. The fact is this concept is a clever design and I really hope sees the light of day. A refreshing, sturdy, portable and modular combination of a toolbox and stepladder is what we are talking about. It stores the goodies and transforms to a handy step-up with adjustable heights. Something that every home and office needs!

Container is a modular system that, unlike stationary sideboards, offers users a customizable storage solution that conforms to any unique space, becoming a dresser, media cabinet, tv stand, or anything else imaginable. The solid elm base acts as a “landing dock” for the MDF containers that can be stacked, interchanged, or removed altogether, adapting to the user’s needs. The modularity of the structure is further highlighted by the application of varying materials & finishes on each unique storage compartment.

Portable burners come in a range of designs powered by various sources but for the most part, they are still very basic and crude. The iMove your Hotplate system is a sleek burner with removable hotplates. The concept is designed for campers and small households but I don’t see why a larger version wouldn’t work in traditional setups. This would much easier to clean.
