Eclectic and Colorful Furniture from Giorgio Saporiti of IL Loft

9:28 am in Furniture Design, Home Furnishings, Interior Design, Modern Furniture, Modern Furniture & Design by Will

Eclectic is the best word to describe the "Constellation" seating collection from Il Loft. The colorful series includes sofas, armchairs, and lounges that feature feather filled seats and a large backrest that is definitely shabby sheik. Il Loft specializes in designer furniture from Giorgio Saporiti, who is known as a "creative dynamo". Eye-catching, somewhat provocative colors play a central role in Giorgio Saporiti's life, and this can been seen in the way he lives and works. Despite being inordinately fond of "color", he prefers clean-cut furniture with distinct outlines. If you like the Constellation you have to see the rest of the visually explosive furniture from Il Loft here.

Marcel Wanders Unveils Eden And Babel Series For xO

12:45 am in Chairs, Modern Furniture, Modern Furniture & Design, Stools, Tables, Vases, Wood by Tanya

As purveyors of the modern A&D scene, Marcel Wanders has always been one of our favorites. His recent collections once again proves why Wanders is a design force to reckon with. The "Eden" and "Babel" collections may have Biblical names but thats where the religious connotations end. Developed in conjunction with the French Furniture company xO, the former is a series of vases, tables and stools while the latter a collection of chairs. For Babel, Wanders had worked with materials like wood, plastic, acrylic and for Eden he has favored glass and ceramic.

Vinyl Workout Digital Interactive Floor

3:34 am in Modern Furniture & Design by Tanya

If the thought of hitting the gym makes you break out in sweat (not in a good way) then I hear you. Workouts can seldom be fun since most of them are monotonous and mind-numbing. However for certified procrastinators (like me), the "Vinyl Workout" by Theo Watson may just be the answer. This interactive system turns your floor into a mammoth record player and then responds to the speed of of your running and walking. Quite a change from the boring old treadmill don't you think?

Valentina : “La Donna e Mobile” Storage Collection by Ennezero

3:31 am in Furniture, Italian Design, Italian Furniture, Modern Furniture & Design, Pop Art, Storage Furniture by Will

Design G. Canevese must have a fondness for Valentina, "La donna e mobile" because she adorns this pop culture storage collection from Ennezero. This collection of storage cabinets of many sizes and heights was inspired by "the theories of the artistic movement called Radical Design, which began in the 1960's in Tuscany before spreading to other parts of the world. Objects and products were no longer designed in view of their mere function, but were transformed into actual "emotional media". Here ideas, thoughts and yearnings of an entire generation were exploited in a variety of ways". The rest of the Ennezero collection including all of the Valentina "La donna e mobile" can be seen here.

Paperforms 3D Recycled Wallpaper Modules By Jaime Salm

3:54 am in Green Products, Modern Furniture & Design, Recycled Furniture, Recycled Paper by Tanya

To cash in on the recent 3D frenzy, a number of designers are marketing their creations as "third dimensional". The Paperforms 3D Recycled Wallpaper by Jaime Salm does complete justice to its 3D tag as it adds texture to any room. These textured panels measure 12x12 and can be glued with wallpaper paste or the good old double sided tape. The fact that Paperforms are manufactured from 100% post and pre-consumer waste paper makes us like it even more. You can order the affordable recycled modules from here.

New IKEA LINNARP Glass Door

1:50 am in Doors, Ikea, Modern Furniture, Modern Furniture & Design by Tanya

Love it, or hate it but you cannot ignore it. No, I am not talking about Lady Gaga, but Swedish giants IKEA. While some may turn their nose up on IKEA, I personally love some of their products. Case in point, the new LINNARP Glass Door which is retailing for $100.00 / 2 pack. Designed by K Hagberg and M Hagberg, the door cabinet protects your favorite items from dust and the glass is supposed to be impact resistant. You can order it online from here.

At Milan Design Week 2010 : Bright Woods Chairs And Tables

11:38 pm in Chairs, Italian, Milan, Modern Furniture & Design, Tables by Tanya

Lets admit it, there is something utterly fascinating about shiny glowing objects. While the A&D object is not known for producing furniture that glows, maybe the Bright Woods' collection of illuminated chairs and coffee tables will change this! Seen first at the Milan Design Week, the collection has been conceptualized by Giancarlo Zema for the Avanzini Group who does a wonderful job of breaking away from the clique but still achieving a consumer-friendly vibe. The Bright Woods' collection is made from natural materials like wood and resin and is ideal for both indoors or outdoors use.

At Milan Design Week 2010 : Rock Wang’s Silk Cocoon Furniture Collection

3:36 am in Chairs, Milan, Modern Furniture & Design, Stool by Tanya

Designer Rock Wang with the Cocoon Furniture Collection transports you back to ancient China and pays homage to the historically important Silk Route. As the name suggests, the entire line of furniture has been created from silk, spun by silkworms and each piece took around five days. Wang firmly believes in the mantra "Design By Nature" and thus has incorporated bamboo strips to highlight the organic nature of the collection as well as to provide support.
