"Pallet" Magazine And CD Holder

2:31 am in Home Storage & Shelving, Modern Furniture, Shelves by Tanya

Industrial designer Flavia Dalla Pellegrina does away with all the design cliches that are generally associated with the usually prosaic storage unit. The "Pallet" Magazine and CD Holder has been designed to integrate with its surroundings and calling it a modern day library won't be an exaggeration on my part. Constructed from wood, the "modular library" can be fixed into a wall or stand tall in a large space and beckons you to share your eclectic tastes with panache.

8:22 am in Bathroom Design & Furniture, Sink by chris

Imagine seeing the following sink in the bathroom of one of your friends. Looking at it from the distance you might not even recognize exactly what it is, and once you realize it's a bathroom basin you'll wonder where the water is supposed to go and how you're going to wash your hands. But once you solve the puzzle you'll find this Sonobath Lotus basin very interesting. The Lotus, as suggested by the name, is inspired by flower petals, and you can order the same design from Sonobath. The Lotus is available in pure white, blizzard, desert limestone, eggshell and absolute noir, so it will surely match your modern bathroom. What will you choose? Via Sonobath

ALLOY Metal Tiles Collection By Karim Rashid

2:57 am in General by Tanya

The inimitable Karim Rashid with his ALLOY Metal Tiles Collection has done what he does best, creating Quixotical designs that border on the revolutionary. The patterned rich collection ups the ante with its almost 3D surface that may repeat in a predictable manner but at the same time contradicts the good old square tile.

Chris Bosse Reinterprets Panton Chair For Re-Loved Exhibition

10:22 pm in Chairs, Chairs & Bar Stools, Modern Chairs by Tanya

If you are Down Under and have plans to to visit the Re-Loved Exhibition in Sydney, then don't give Australian Architect's Chris Bosse's sliced up avatar of the Panton Chair a miss. All exhibits in the Re-Loved pay tribute to iconic chairs and this one pays homage to the famous chair by Danish designer Verner Panton (c1967).

"I've chosen to represent this shape as slices, similar to an mri scan in order to make visible its complex 3 dimensional geometry. The chair is metaphorically and physically carved out of a sliced box ", says Bosse.

Designer Chris Hardy Restyles The Iconic Breuer’s Cesca Chair For Re-Loved

6:17 pm in Chairs, Chairs & Bar Stools, Modern Chairs by Tanya

Industrial designer Chris Hardy pays homage to the iconic Breuer's Cesca chair (a modernist classic) by reinterpreting it according to contemporary aesthetics. The cantilevered chair grabs eyeballs thanks to its sculptural shape and will meet the approval of even the most discerning design enthusiast. The unique styling is due to adapting generative techniques and rapid prototyping technology like selective laser sintering (Shapeways). The chair can be seen at the Re-Loved Exhibition in Sydney, Australia.

The Refrigerator 2 Fridge TV Knows Exactly What You Like

7:59 am in Design, Home Accessories, Home Appliances, Kitchen, Kitchen Design & Furniture, Tv, Tv Stands by chris

This thing in the pictures below happens to be one of the most interesting fridges your kitchen could ever wish for. Not only does the Refrigerator 2 conveniently hide your favorite food but it also has a built-in TV that will let you enjoy your special shows while enjoying exactly the meal you like. Maybe it's the news in the morning over a bowl of cereal or maybe it's your favorite afternoon talk show over a tasty snack; you get to choose both the food and the program you want to watch. Oh and the built-in TV is a pretty decent 14-inch set ready to answer all your commands. So what do you say, would you be ready to exchange your old refrigerator for a brand new one, say the Refrigerator 2? Via R&R

Magica Chair With Transparent Plexiglass Legs

6:06 pm in Chairs, Chairs & Bar Stools, Glass, Modern Chairs, Wood by Tanya

Don't be fooled by the picture below, the Magica is not some wobbly one legged chair but just the opposite. Designed to give an illusion of sheer minimalism, the chair has transparent plexiglass on both sides which makes for a wonderful contrast with the dark wood. This one legged (almost) wonder has been designed by Davide Conti.

Foundation Shelving System Inspired By Brutalist Architecture

12:54 am in Home Storage & Shelving, Shelf, Shelves by Tanya

The Foundation Shelving System by Benjamin Hubert has been inspired by Brutalist architecture or what Le Corbusier referred to as "raw concrete,". Hubert stays true to his source of inspiration as this is seen in the striking repetitive angular geometries that catch the eye instantly. The Foundation System is made of charcoal Valchromat and we love the leather tabs which provide easy to access the boxes-within-a-box.

There is a method to the "Need Not Arrange Anymore" Bookshelf madness, and the slob inside me gives it a big thumbs. Who needs well-organized bookshelves when you can create chaos without unleashing havoc? The idea behind is this brilliant bookshelf is to let go off your OCD traits and enjoy all your literary wonders without you worrying where the book goes after you are done with it.
