Lets admit it, there is something utterly fascinating about shiny glowing objects. While the A&D object is not known for producing furniture that glows, maybe the Bright Woods' collection of illuminated chairs and coffee tables will change this! Seen first at the Milan Design Week, the collection has been conceptualized by Giancarlo Zema for the Avanzini Group who does a wonderful job of breaking away from the clique but still achieving a consumer-friendly vibe. The Bright Woods' collection is made from natural materials like wood and resin and is ideal for both indoors or outdoors use.

Designer Rock Wang with the Cocoon Furniture Collection transports you back to ancient China and pays homage to the historically important Silk Route. As the name suggests, the entire line of furniture has been created from silk, spun by silkworms and each piece took around five days. Wang firmly believes in the mantra "Design By Nature" and thus has incorporated bamboo strips to highlight the organic nature of the collection as well as to provide support.

What better place than Milan to showcase your tribute to traditional Italian craftsmanship?Product designer and architect Stefano Giovanno does just this by unveiling his new collection for Magis. The Murano Vanity Chair and Table add a contemporary rhythm to the ancient art of glassmaking whose roots can be traced back to the Venetian Island of Murano. The collection has been manufactured from venetian glass and aluminum keeping in mind modern aesthetics. What we personally love about the collection is its unique mix of function, flamboyance and fun and the energy thats ricochets from it.

At this day and age, we all should adhere to the "Go Green" mantra. Interestingly the A&D field has been able to prove that recycled objects don't necessary translate into ugly. Product designers all over the world are showcasing their commitment to material reclamation by making some stunning sustainable furniture. Case in point, Emeco's 111 Coca Cola Pet Bottles Navy Chair which as the name suggests is made of 111 discarded bottles and according to Emeco they expect to use about 3,000,000 plastic beverage bottles each year in production! The chair is solely made of plastic PET bottles (about 65% post consumer content) and will be exhibiting at the Milan Furniture Fair.
