Purveyors of minimalist designs will appreciate the sleek and chic styling of the Quarantacinque (Forty-five) single-lever mixer. Manufactured by Italian company Ottone Meloda, the Quarantacinque is dominated by clean punctilious lines, scuplturalistic silhouettes and modern streamlined aesthetics. The Quarantacinque is edgy and the 45-degree angle is what makes it unique and different from the rest of the clique. The chic chrome finish further enhances the form factor which has actually been designed by New York-based firm AF Design Lab for Ottone Meloda.

No More No Less Quantitative Tap

4:19 am in Accessories, Bathroom, Bathroom Design & Furniture, Faucets by Tanya

Save water, save the Planet. No I have not joined Greenpeace but there is absolute truth in this noble belief and designer Jasper Hou also adheres to it. His "No More No Less," Faucet is a brilliant piece of work as it strives to cut down water wastage and promoting water conservation. "No More No Less," as the name indicates is a quantitative tap that has been equipped with a pre-control. N.M.N.L. that pre-measures the water flow in different settings. The on board LCD screen which is powered by the kinetic energy of flowing water gives information regarding control, temperature etc. There is also a nifty little 30 second meter which turns of the faucet after 30 seconds.

Want a glimpse of the future? Then check out the Koolhaus Metal Taps that belongs in a Sci-fi flick (Nolan's Inception anyone?) rather than todays boring bathrooms. It also comes with a fancy multiple flow rate devices which lets you play Big Brother and keep an eye on all the waster consumption in the house.

4:57 am in Accessories, Bathroom, Bathroom Design & Furniture, Faucets by Tanya

The iHouse Smart Faucet is the perfect example of conceptual ideation and innovative use of technology. Equipped with a facial screening application, this one actually use face recognition technology to turn on water accordingly to ones preferred temperature and flow. The faucet also has a LED that lets user email, calendar appointments among other things. The integrated LEDs in the tap illuminate variation of temperature and also creates a dramatic environment.

Vinyl Workout Digital Interactive Floor

3:34 am in Modern Furniture & Design by Tanya

If the thought of hitting the gym makes you break out in sweat (not in a good way) then I hear you. Workouts can seldom be fun since most of them are monotonous and mind-numbing. However for certified procrastinators (like me), the "Vinyl Workout" by Theo Watson may just be the answer. This interactive system turns your floor into a mammoth record player and then responds to the speed of of your running and walking. Quite a change from the boring old treadmill don't you think?

Sidetrack Table – An Employee’s Worst Nightmare

7:25 pm in Modern Furniture, Office Furniture, Tables by Tanya

While I personally don't like be changed to my work desk, the uber cool Sidetrack table may just change my opinion. A brainchild of design students, Jacek Barcikowski, Jennifer Kay and Martina Pagura, Sidetrack outlines your working (or lack of it ) routine by drawing a pattern. This feat is achieved by the built in sensors which tracks ones movements and the on board marker illustrates the movements on the table itself. Definitely not recommended for those believe in procrastination.
