Modern Residential Architecture for the Entertainer by A-cero Architects

11:03 pm in Architecture, Contemporary Homes, Home Design, Homes, Modern Homes, Spain by Will

Here is one of the most inviting modern homes I have seen in a while located in Cadiz, Spain and designed by A-cero Architects. You better wipe off your feet before you enter the SotoGrande that sports one of the most all white interior designs around nicely accented with a few splashes of color for depth and dimension. The designers must have intended for the layout to be used for serious entertaining as the SotoGrande sports an ample roof top lounge, large size swimming pool and pool side bar and lounge area, as well as balconies and patios for quite a few guests. A-cero Architects also develops multi-family dwellings with an equally forward thinking design you can see here.

A TreeHouse for Grown Ups by Rockefeller Partner Architects

9:10 am in Architecture, Contemporary Homes, Homes, Interior Design, Modern Homes by Will

Sometimes you just need to get away from the rest of the family and the Banyan Tree House from Rockefeller Partner Architects comprised of Rocky Rockefeller, Christopher Kempel, and Brian Pera offers a nice sanctuary and a modern interpretation of a place we used to play as kids. Like most tree houses the Banyan features its share of wood interior and exterior appointments and nice open views and natural lighting with its well placed windows. This cozy setting makes the best of the 170 square foot floor plan and gives a sense of a much larger space thanks to the tall ceilings and smaller scale furniture. The Most Amazing Cottage in the World

7:29 pm in Architecture, Design, Homes, House, Odd, Sydney, Unusual by John

We have covered a lot of architecture projects and this one, called "Leaf House", may well be the most amazing cottage in the world. The cottage is located on an escarpment overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Sydney, Australia. It belongs as part of a larger private residence. The shape of the project has been fastened from the images of leaves making this very unique indeed. The roof is constructed of copper which has been woven into a pattern much like how a plant in nature would appear. The inside construction is anchored by supports that have been shaped to mirror that of plant stems; growing wild and in all directions. The end result is a panoramic view from the cottage that also contains a unique look from inside as well. Leaf House was designed by Undercurrent Architects.

NomadHome: Not Your Uncle’s Mobile Home

7:53 am in Architecture, Design, Homes, Houses, Modern, Prefab Homes, Prefabricated Homes by John

When you think of a mobile home, what comes to mind? Likely, you think of a home in a trailer park that might be single or double-wide trailer. Architect Gerold Peham challenges that predisposition through his project called “NomadHome”. This is a modern modular housing product that is designed for people who move around. The prefab housing is built in Austria and can be transported by truck to its final destination. Construction can be finalized in 2-3 days once at the job site. Now the amazing thing to me is how awesome this mobile home is. The amenities inside look like what you would find inside a beautiful house. You can learn more about NomadHome: HERE.

These useful office credenzas provide a colorful alternative to the often drab office furniture setups found in many homes. A bit of color can spruce up a room and provide a contemporary feel for an otherwise sterile room. Though “working at home” has become the norm it does not mean that you can’t use some decorating flair when creating your home office setup. This product is called “Tapas”. It comes in a few different colors to choose from as well as a few shapes. Find the product: HERE.

Beach Front Villa in British Virgin Islands

6:00 pm in Architecture, Homes, Houses, Real Estate, Villa, Villas, Virgin Islands by John

This beach front villa in the British Virgin Islands is a welcome site during the colder months. Known for its pristine blue water, the islands remain a hotspot for tourists and those well to do enough to own property on the islands. This villa is on Beef Island on a 1.89 acre plot. The house is located west of the airport on the north side of the island with views of Little and Great Camanoe Islands. The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 ½ bathrooms. The pictures show the wonderful view and location of the property. One drawback is that old sectional sofa that certainly needs replacing. Be sure and take a look at another Virgin Islands dream home that was covered earlier at Furniture Fashion. Via.

Pictures of the 511 House in Pacific Palisades

6:00 pm in Architecture, Home, Homes, House, House Plans, Houses, Indoor, Lighting, Outdoor, Pictures by John

These house pictures showcase the work of Kanner Architects on the “511 House” in Pacific Palisades, California. The home measures 3,500 square feet and has two stories. A theme in the house plans was to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor. The first floor is nearly all lit by natural sunlight with windows and sliding glass doors everywhere. The main house areas such as the living room, kitchen and dining room are all on this floor. The sliding glass doors can be pulled back to allow the natural breeze to come in turning the floor into a near patio due to all the sunlight. Inspiration for the home was drawn from Richard Neutra and Ray Eames. The home furnishings show a lot of Eames’ influence. Via.
