The goal of the In My Fridge project is to simplify the process of food management by focusing on the technical & communicative aspects of the refrigerator. Using new RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) technology, the fridge is equipped with readers that collect data about quality, quantity, expiration date, & even recipes & presents it on a unique touch-screen interactive display. The user experience is quite uncommon & even has a 3D feature that allows the user to see the contents of the fridge without opening the door!
Owning a personal refrigerator at work is not a new thing, and Particulate Food Fridge fits into that lifestyle perfectly. Only thing different is the way it looks; seems more like a lunchbox than a mini fridge. Functionally, it has these compartments that come up, grab your offering and store each according to the food groups. Check out the way the mouth of the fridge opens up; ready to devour its next meal!

Prepare yourself for the strangest concept in refrigeration that yours truly has ever lain eyes on. This is “Membrane,” a concept for a refrigerator that uses nine flexible cooling walls to both hold and keep cool the items you need kept cool and held up. Cooling takes place only in the ares that are bent, that being only the places where items are placed. The exact physics we’re not entirely sure of, but the brightness of the project and the absolute uniqueness of the design are very easy to see.

The newly announced Infinity I-Kitchen from Electrolux is no ordinary refrigerator as its both a design and tech marvel. Running on Linux, the web-enabled refrigerator features a touchscreen-enabled ARM so that one can have access to apps like notes, calendar, contacts, reminders, photos, recipes and much more. The highlight of the refrigerator is its sleek futuristic design and the fridge also features a touch display with a resolution of 480×800.
Says Electrolux:
"The Notes application avoids spreading the famous Post-it notes throughout the refrigerator all the while taking its functionality to a new level, marking messages as unread, reminding you of birthdays and appointments. Through Photos it's possible to use your refrigerator as a digital photo frame and Recipes brings more than 600 recipes published by a famous Brazilian magazine."

Future refrigerators will look a lot different than what we're used to see today and they're most likely to employ various technologies that are either not fully developed or not even invented yet. The fridge of the future in the images below will keep food in some sort of green sludge that appears to be a nanorobotic bio-gel that would surround all your food and keep it cool. That's definitely an interesting project and I only hope that green thing won't get mixed with my food, once I take it out of it. Seriously speaking though, such fridge is supposed to take up little space in your kitchen, especially when mostly empty, and it will be able to get energy from the air and use it to keep all your food cool. I'm just curios whether this thing can dispose ice too, again, without any bio-gel in it. Via Dornob
This particular piece furniture doesn't really qualify as the usual outdoor furniture you'd be usually interested in purchasing, as it's rather a home appliance that you'd store outside. This bold design can be an eco-friendly fridge solution for the future. The Electrolux external refrigerator is placed outside and accessible via a window. The refrigerator will use the temperature outside to conserve food in the colder months of the year while in summer the sun's energy will be used to keep your favorite foods at cool temperature. Electrolux will certainly consider making such a fridge in the future especially since the product is part of the Electrolux Design Lab 2010 competition. Via Nicolashubert
This thing in the pictures below happens to be one of the most interesting fridges your kitchen could ever wish for. Not only does the Refrigerator 2 conveniently hide your favorite food but it also has a built-in TV that will let you enjoy your special shows while enjoying exactly the meal you like. Maybe it's the news in the morning over a bowl of cereal or maybe it's your favorite afternoon talk show over a tasty snack; you get to choose both the food and the program you want to watch. Oh and the built-in TV is a pretty decent 14-inch set ready to answer all your commands. So what do you say, would you be ready to exchange your old refrigerator for a brand new one, say the Refrigerator 2? Via R&R
