Eco-Friendly Empower Rocking Chair

8:06 am in Chairs, Chairs & Bar Stools, Rocking Chairs by Tanya

Designer Ryan Klinger's Eco-Friendly Empower Rocking Chair keeps pace with the current thriving A&D scene where renewable energy is superseding other traditional energies. The idea behind the concept chair is simple, rock on and produce energy to power up all the necessary evils like laptops, mobile phones and other portable electronic devices via an USB outlet. A great concept and we would love to see it in commercial spaces like airports, hospitals and even lounge bars.

Belkin Conserve Insight Records Your Energy Consumption

11:53 pm in Home Accessories, Home Appliances by Tanya

"Design with a conscious" is one of those 21st century A&D trends that have really caught on and are no longer associated with tjhe idealists or the eco-police. Every inch of our urban existence is dependent on some form of energy so it makes sense to design products that actually track our consumption. The Belkin Conserve Insight does just that and also gives you information on the amount of CO2 emitted by your appliances, or the cost of operation. So if your refrigerator is consuming too much electricity then chuck it for the environment and even your wallet.

The Strobilus Lamp Looks Like a Pine Cone But Offers Precious Light

8:47 am in Design, Lamp, Lamps & Lighting, Living Room by chris

This particular lamp qualifies for the strangest design I have ever seen for a lamp, not that it's necessarily an unpleasant display of skill and imagination. The Strobilus Lamp looks like a cone, but it's far more useful than you're regular pine cone. Designed by Jonathon Coles, the Strobilus lamp is supposed to be a highly recyclable and very efficient light source. In fact the Strobilus lamp is up to 95% recyclable, which is definitely a great feature for a lamp that you're surely going to replace in a couple of years. The Strobilus is made by paper pulp apparently, and in case it sounds familiar, that's because that kind of paper is usually found in packaging materials. Would you get a Strobilus for your living room or is it too weird for your taste? Via Paviom

Rocking Chair Transforms Movement Into Electricity

11:15 pm in Chairs, Chairs & Bar Stools, Electricity by chris

Rocking chairs are always a great addition to your home but the model I am presenting you today is all the more interesting. Designed by Shawn Kim, the Rocking Chair in the images above comes with an innovative "Watch Movement" mechanism, which is made of a generator, and a kinetic system that can capture energy resulted from all that rocking movement. The resulting energy can be used to power up some of your mobile gadgets and the Rocking Chair comes with an integrated LED light source and a 2-channel stereo speaker. All you need now is some good music, a great book, and lots of rocking to enjoy a pleasant afternoon in your own home. So, what do you say? Are you ready for an eco-friendly Rocking Chair in your life? Via Coroflot

Tegolasolare Terracotta Solar Panels

4:43 am in Architecture, Solar Panels by Tanya

Design with a conscious is a mantra we here at Furniture Fashion strongly believe in and hence try to cover products that aim to make a difference. The solar panels by Italian company Tegolasolare are nothing short of stunning as they have been designed to resemble terra-cotta tiles. Each panel contains four photovoltaic cells and all the panels are linked together to to create a photovoltaic field. Of course the design element is crucial too as the panels look charmingly rustic.

Paperforms 3D Recycled Wallpaper Modules By Jaime Salm

3:54 am in Green Products, Modern Furniture & Design, Recycled Furniture, Recycled Paper by Tanya

To cash in on the recent 3D frenzy, a number of designers are marketing their creations as "third dimensional". The Paperforms 3D Recycled Wallpaper by Jaime Salm does complete justice to its 3D tag as it adds texture to any room. These textured panels measure 12x12 and can be glued with wallpaper paste or the good old double sided tape. The fact that Paperforms are manufactured from 100% post and pre-consumer waste paper makes us like it even more. You can order the affordable recycled modules from here.
