I don't really know what to say about the "Bear Me" chair from Ontwerpers except it fits with the rest of their furniture designs as very unusual. The fiber reinforced artificial resin structure is handcrafted and "inspired by the outspoken deformed shape in nature, the way we processed the material resulted in a seemingly chaotic pattern of frost flowers". Made and delivered on special request. 145 x 90 x 62 cm See the rest of the totally unique furniture from Ontwerpers of the Netherlands here.

Whether square or round coffee tables are a better fit in front of your sofa, you have to admire the cool look of “Turno” from Jules & Jeremey. The two-tone wood look hearkens back to Dutch design specially the combination of white and natural colors. Turno is also available with black sides which might fit better depending on your furniture colors. The touch of glass at the top offers a small window, but not too big and one that might survive in a house with children. Price: 1,100 € (teak) – 1,250 € (rosewood). More information: here.

Rolf.fr was kind enough to send in these images from Dutch Design week. They took on a project of transforming old furniture into something new. You can see from the images a small chest that could be found at a yard sale or resale shop for a small amount of money. In the project they cut away pieces and added others creating a modern interpretation of an old piece that was likely headed for the furniture donation pile.

Dutch designer Bauke Knottnerus presents a unique joining of art in furniture in his work, “PHAT KNITS”. On first glance it appears to be designed as furniture for seating, but upon further inspection you can see its resemblance to oversized knitted pieces. The intent was to shape textiles through the use of PVC needles as part of a material design. It has been lauded by observers as furniture in some cases and others as decorative art. We look forward to more exhibits from the Design Academy Eindhoven graduate. Via 3Rings and Bauke Knotterus.
