Designer Spotlight: Louis Vega

Louis Vega is a Mexican interior designer with spunk. Engaging with everything from logo design to flowerpots, Vega has a wealth of experience under his belt and a knack for interior design. His style is smooth and relaxed, with a penchant towards fun rather than seriousness. His above pictured Mazunte chair is a perfect instance of his approach to design. It features a single piece of plywood that is bent and cut to form a smooth, unified piece. These chairs are stackable, and look stunning next to one another – perfect for a lobby, entryway, or even as a dining room chair.

Designer Spotlight: Boiler Design Office

Boiler Design Office is Karl Zahn’s freelance interior design business that focuses on exploring his creativity in new and exciting venues. He specializes in industrial design, architecture and researching innovative techniques and production methods. His Phrena lamp is perhaps his most iconic piece, pictured above. It begins as a flat fixture and opens, like a book, to reveal a world within. Its three dimensional form emerges, from simplicity to complexity, to produce a multi-faceted lamp whose facets reflect the light in intriguing ways. His other pieces feature smooth form, multiple material choices, and a a playful, fun attitude.

Form Us With Love is a highly active, energetic group of designers who come together to explore form, emotion and function. Operating in Stockholm, this design house aim to challenge the conventional in the everyday through innovative design. Often inviting other designers to partake in their conceptual experiments, Form Us With Love is a group on the cutting-edge of avant garde interior fashion.  The above pictured Ogle lamp features a thin, crisp black neck leading up to the black sphere, which emits a bright, bold light in a single direction.  This piece exemplifies Form Us With Love’s style, which is fun, minimal, and unique.

Designer Spotlight: Cameron Van Dyke

Cameron Van Dyke concentrates on sustainable design that shows respect for tradition while maintaining a modern appeal. The products that Van Dyke creates are all unique and inspired by nature, sculpture, and art. Using only the sturdiest of materials such as solid hard wood, stainless steel and aluminum, he crafts long-lasting designs for clients on a custom basis.  The above pictured living room interior features dual wood and leather material with stainless steel accents and a decidedly minimalist flair, while the below pictured custom Fizz coffee table takes a playful stance towards the traditional living room coffee table.

Designer Spotlight: Marcitect

Marcitect is Marc De Gols, a Belgian interior designer with an international perspective. Having recently returned to Belgium from touring his projects around the world, he is now hard at work producing conceptual pieces that reflect the needs of the modern home. The above pictured chair is part of his cut-and-bent collection. The pieces all feature construction from a single aluminum 5mm sheet that is molded by the cut-and-bend principle of design work. As such, they have the unified, solid feel of modern decor along with the simple appeal of minimalism that is so necessary in today’s often hectic modern home.

Designer Spotlight: Florian Gilges

Florian Gilges is all about creating unique designs, unusual shapes, and unconventional projects. He uses his creative perspective to update traditional squares and rectangles to transform them into trapezoids and triangles, and replaces black and white with rich brown and cream. The above pictured Moduleros system is composed of four separate modules that can come together in a number of ways. It can be used as a long, wide side table, or as a tall shelving unit, depending on the configuration. And the available shelving space in any of the multiple forms of the Moduleros is enough to make any hallway or living room clutter-free in a few minutes.

Designer Spotlight: usTogether

usTogether combines the talents of British and Irish designers to produce ultra modern furniture for the bathroom market. With humble beginnings in the UK, this group has expanded its offerings and is now receiving international acclaim in design magazines, trade shows, and other media. Sleek, sophisticated and modular, their bathroom products are among the most unique in the world. The above pictured Ebb Bathroom set features smooth, geometric design that uses one fluid motion to go from tub to shower head to sink.  It uses the traditional ceramic white that bathrooms are known for, and updates it with an angled form and glass tub sides.

Designer Spotlight: Inside Lab

The six person team at Inside Lab all graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and they bring a similar mentality to their work. They are dedicated to satisfying the aesthetic needs of even the most discerning clients, as they work to produce both commercial and private furniture. They constantly develop new ways of manipulating form and style to deliver a unique product to each client. The above pictured Spazio Chair is an eco-project designed to emit comfort and relaxation, while at the same time reminding the user of the responsibility of sustainable furniture design and eco-friendly attitudes.

Designer Spotlight: David Zachary

With a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design from the Pratt Institute, David Zachary is no stranger to the finer points of interior design. His designs are unique in that they are sensitive to the environments they inhabit, and they express this in their form and figure. Using ecological influences, David Zachary creates pieces that border between the experimental and the fashionable. The above pictured TiZ Bed was born through Zachary’s diagram experimentation. It features energy generating springs that power a lamp that can be plugged into the side of the bed, which stays on as long as your are moving the springs.

Designer Spotlight: Torsten Plate

Torsten Plate is a Dutch designer that has a prolific history of interior design. His pieces are simple and modern, using minimalist influences and industrial inspiration. The above pictured Spine chair is made from a smooth piece of wood that is layered with a row of firm horizontal cushions. Its two-toned appearance and variable shape make it an eye-catching piece of lounge furniture. Plate also has a line of appliances and accessories, including the below pictured Toost toaster. It features a modular appearance, bold black and white colors, and a refreshing simplicity in the face of the increasingly complex appliances that seem to be hitting the shelves in stores.
