Hanging Hangers

4:02 pm in 未分类 by Troy Turner

Gotta love this clever design by designer Jo Jae-Min. From afar the Dual Hanger looks like a stylish yet fairly standard coat rack, but take a closer look and you’ll notice that its removable “hooks” actually double as coat hangers!

Ironing with a Twist

4:02 pm in 未分类 by Troy Turner

The 360 Iron is the result of an exploration into the evolution of the common iron and a representation of key improvements made to an appliance that has otherwise experienced minimal change over the years. The design revolves around a flexible, ergonomic joint that transfers twisting of the wrist to the iron itself thereby reducing hand-strain. A touch-screen display replaces complex dials and buttons adding to its intuitiveness and overall easy of use.

A Hanger Fit for James Bond

4:21 pm in Fashion by Troy Turner

I love a design that makes you go “why didn’t I think of that?!” … and this is certainly one of them. The Pliable Coat Hanger (which is small enough to fit in your pocket) expands from a mere 7 cm to 40 in just one easy motion. Super-compact and made of durable, lightweight aluminum, it’s the first truly travel-friendly hanger I’ve seen!

Let the Dresser Do the Thinking

4:01 pm in Dresser, Furniture by Troy Turner

Snappy Dresser uses a system based on common sense reasoning that matches clothes styles and functions with the concepts needed for the context. The system returns suggestions for complete outfits and the selected outfit is recorded as the user’s feedback to the system’s recommendation for a particular occasion. For instance- a set of a set of clothes that the user initially selected for swimming will be matched to the activity and they will be suggested the next time swimming is the occasion.

The Wood Hanger Just Got Better

3:03 pm in 未分类 by Troy Turner

I love the look of wooden clothes hangers, but because of their rigidity they tend to be difficult to squeeze through the neck of shirts. With just a simple squeeze, this clever design, appropriately named the  Bender Hanger, slides easily into the smallest of garments, making for a quick an easy way to hang clothes while retaining the sophistication of the classic wood hanger.

Seamless Wear of the Future

3:04 pm in 未分类 by Troy Turner

I know what you’re thinking- where the %&#$ would I wear that?! Well, according to designer Yitzhak Abecassis, you’ll wear it in the future! The idea behind the Body as Joint collection is a life without buttons, zippers, or even sewing machines. Instead, solid neoprene sheets are laser-cut with thoughtfully placed slits. Even if you’re skeptical- you’ve gotta admit that stranger things have come off the runway… or GaGa for that matter.

A Little Control Can Boost Imagination

7:14 pm in Children by Troy Turner

The latest collection from designer Emily Gunning, MonsterMake, MetaMorphasuit, and Mothershape, aims to discourage obsolescence and maintain their appeal to the child over a prolonged period of time. The designer’s research found that children are more likely to maintain satisfaction with their toys if they have some level of control over what that toy becomes. This encourages them to keep the product longer while helping them tap into their innate affinity for using their imagination.

MonsterMake: A basic shape; soft to touch and hold, much like a teddy bear. However, this product also enables the child to ‘rescue’ broken toys: a doll’s leg, or a cuddly toy’s arm. The attachments on the product are capable of holding soft or plastic items, allowing the child to easily create “hybrid toys.” The possibilities are endless!

MetamorphaSuit: A trouser and top suit, made from a Lycra based material that allows enhanced elasticity. Thie suit is worn by the child who can then transform the appearance of the suit by stuffing the inner pockets causing the fabric to morph, or by adding other components to the suit using the provided attachments. The child can then become whoever/whatever they want to be!

MotherShape: A play object that encourages the child to use their imagination to customize the product, turning it into anything from a boat to a dragon. While sitting inside this product, the child can either experience a gentle rocking motion, or the simple freedom of movement across the room, enabled by wheels. MotherShape can however, also be static. The sides of the product have a range of slits and holes, allowing the user to customise the product as they please in order to create the story they wish, including a draw-on surface that works with dry-erase pens.

GetGlovd Review

9:37 am in Accessories, Eco Products by Katie Nielsen

I was delighted when I received a pair of Get Glovd gloves to review. For starters, I always carry gloves with me in the winter and with temperatures starting to drop, they couldn’t have come at a better time. I was even more thrilled about them when I started researching about the intrinsic natural properties [...]

HumanWear T-Shirt Review

8:07 am in Eco Friendly, Eco Products by Katie Nielsen

While I have plenty to say on the HumanWear t-shirt I was asked to review, for those short on time (or perhaps not interested in my ramblings), here’s what I thought of the shirt in a nutshell: snug, soft and oh-so-perfect. Now go buy yourself one. When I first heard I would be receiving a t-shirt [...]
