My mind instantly conjures up the song "Somewhere over the rainbow" when I look at the L'Arco Della Pace Bookshelf. This visually stunning bookshelf catches the eye and captures the heart thanks to the charming rainbow hues. Built by Martino Gampe, the L'Arco has its roots in history since the architectural elements are no coincidence and seeks to replicate the Arco della Pace which is part of the Piazza Sempione in Milan. Measuring 124" h x 87" w, the bookshelf is constructed of vibrantly colored veneered poplar plywood segments which makes it the anti-thesis of the usually traditional shelves.

The uber cool Tetris Shelves definitely have the "IT Factor" and what really impresses us is the fact that its part of a high school industrial design project. Designed by Sharon Romang, the shelves are trendy without being outrageous and the use of iconography makes them attractive to a wider demographic and not necessary just Tetris fanatics. The shelving system is modular which is no surprise since the essence of the game was to stack up pieces like one wanted.

Modern mavens may turn down their noses on any product that has the term "granny" in it but the Granny Wall Shelf surely deserves a second glance. A modern take on something as wholesome as the art of doily crochet making, the shelf not only pays an ode to a traditional art but is also a welcome blast from the past. Made from steel and not lace (obviously), the wall shelf is the brainchild of Beerd van Stokkum who has opted for classic colors like black and black. Having a length of 85 cm and a depth of 22.5 cm, the Granny Wall Shelf is even durable enough to use outdoors but personally given its intricate patterned design, I would love to showoff my favorite home accessories on it. You can order it online from here.

Your passion for movies and books will be united by this particular room design. The TV screen you see in the first picture is actually a projection screen that will show you all your favorite movies. Behind it there's a special room that hides a bookshelf filled with your favorite books and a projector needed to offer you all that movie rear-projecting you want. In order to create such a home theater setup you'd need a pretty big room to accommodate that dividing projection wall and all the other elements needed for this home entertainment setup to work. Not to mention all the neat seating solutions required by both the multimedia section of the room and by the reading area. Via Minhembio

The Bucefalo Sofa is a useful piece of living room furniture even when you're not at home, enjoying its comfort. The sofa itself is a great choice for some afternoon reading, but when you're not really interested in any of your favorite books you'll be able to deposit them neatly right underneath the whole seating area. That's right, this Bucefalo Sofa doubles as a storage area, and the couch itself is definitely candy for the eye. Coincidentally, just yesterday we showed you a staircase that hides a bookcase and today we have a sofa that can store plenty of books, whenever needed. Which one of these two storage solutions would you choose? If your answer is "An eBook Reader!" then I'll advise you to check the Bucefalo Sofa instead of the Staircase. It's a lot more comfortable when it comes to using that eReader. Via Emanuele Canova

What do you do when you have too many books in print? You either get a Kindle in order to better manage your reading passion, or build yourself an out-of-the-box storage solution like the Staircase/Bookcase project in the images above. It's one of the most efficient designs I've ever seen when it comes to storing book collections, but there are a couple of downsizes too when looking at this bookcase with a double personality. First of all you need a two-story house or apartment, otherwise building such a storage design will lose its second functionality and thus its coolness. But most importantly using the Staircase/Bookcase as an actual staircase might not be something you'll want to do since inevitably, you'll end up getting dirt on some of your favorite titles. There is a method to the "Need Not Arrange Anymore" Bookshelf madness, and the slob inside me gives it a big thumbs. Who needs well-organized bookshelves when you can create chaos without unleashing havoc? The idea behind is this brilliant bookshelf is to let go off your OCD traits and enjoy all your literary wonders without you worrying where the book goes after you are done with it.
