5 Bright Accents for your Bedroom

3:01 am in Uncategorized by Lauren

Your bedroom is your safe place, your private abode – and it’s all about the details when it comes to decorating this sacred space. Although guests won’t be visiting your bedroom often, you can dress it up to be a modern testament to style by paying attention to the accents.

How about trying out a few throw pillows to add a splash of color? Decorative pillows can dress up a bedroom bench, your bed itself, and they can even look stunning placed nonchalantly in the corner.

You can also introduce color into your bedroom in a more subtle way. Sateen sheets come in a variety of muted colors, like eggshell blue and goldenrod yellow. When your bed is made up with the corner pulled down, this delicate touch of color will warm up its surroundings.

Wall decals are another option for a bedroom accent. Available in white, black and a variety of colors, these can add a tasteful but flirty and fun element to your room.

Patterned curtains can also brighten up a bedroom. You can get dragonflies buzzing around a sheer backdrop, or flowers weaving in and out of your window. If you do decide to get patterned curtains, try matching the main colors with your bedspread or accent pillows.

And finally, a flower vase can go a long way in dressing up a bedroom. You can incorporate a bright blue vase with pink flowers for a lovely splash of fresh scent and color.

What do you use to brighten up your bedroom?

Helios Chair, Light & Table All Into One Comes to the Bedroom

10:14 pm in Bedroom Furniture, Chairs & Bar Stools, Concept, Design, Lamps & Lighting, Light, Modern Design, Table by chris

The Helios chair in the image below is not just a simple chair. It also hides lighting capabilities and can act as a table whenever that's required. The Helios concept is the kind of furniture that your small bedroom would require. It has a simple design and it will definitely match with the rest of your bedroom furniture. Personally I'd probably use it as a table/nightstand and as a lamp rather than a chair. After all if I want to do any seating in the bedroom I expect the bad to act as an improvised chair. The Helios is definitely an interesting concept and it will certainly be a great choice for small apartments where you really have to make the most of the available living space. Via Yanko Design

The Cocoon Chair Is Always Ready for Quick Naps

8:29 am in Bedroom Furniture, Chairs & Bar Stools, Design by chris

The creation you see in the images below is a chair that also doubles as a temporary sleeping enclosure. The Cocoon Chair is actually a chair that looks like a comfy and warm cocoon ready to protect you while you're taking quick naps. The whole thing seems pretty simple to build but this Cocoon is more than a chair engulfed in a sleeping bag. The Cocoon is definitely an interesting seating solution especially when it comes to watching TV on a rainy autumn afternoon. The only problem with it is that you'll have a hard time leaving the protective Cocoon when it's time to move to your bedroom for a good night sleep. Via Les M

Alarm Pillow Will Wake You Up Every Day

1:09 am in Bedroom Furniture, Design by chris

We've shown you various bed designs here at Furniture Fashion so, naturally, we have a few pillow ideas that would go with some of those beds. The Alarm Pillow in the images below will wake you up every single day. The pillow starts vibrating when the time is up and, whether you want it or not, you'll have to wake up and go to work. Should you decide not to wake up yet, then the weight of your own head will act as a snooze button and the Alarm Pillow will try to wake you up again. I could definitely use such a pillow myself and only hope the Alarm Pillow will be pretty comfortable to sleep on considering it packs a vibrating mechanism too. Via Yanko Design

Creating a Bedroom Without a Bedroom Set

11:56 pm in Uncategorized by Lauren

When decorating a modern bedroom, most people start with the bedroom set. A 5- or 7-piece ensemble that is perfectly matched in espresso wood or white veneer. And there is nothing wrong with this approach. However, if you’re looking for a way to create your bedroom from scratch – without relying on a pre-fab bedroom set – we’ve got some great tips.

A mix-n-match bedroom can look simply stunning, and it will always be unique. The first rule of thumb, as with any interior decorating you do, is to let your senses guide you. Style guides, trends, and advice are all well and good, but it is your home, so you should have final say.

When choosing individual bed frames, dressers, mirrors, nightstands, benches, tables, curtains and other accessories for your bedroom, you want to keep color, texture and materials in mind.

For instance, if you’re going for the shabby chic look like the image above, you’ll probably want some rubbed bronze, worn or exposed wood, distressed finishes and otherwise antique-looking textures. Or, if you want to do the ethnic eclectic look, you might want to choose texturized and colorful fabrics and natural finish woods.

It can help if you have an interesting base from which to sprout your unique bedroom set ideas as well. Exposed brick, like the image above, inspires all sorts of creativity, as does an oddly shaped room or an eye-catching floor.

Designing your bedroom without the help of a bedroom set can be daunting, but you’ll feel like a true champion designer when you’ve pulled together a jumble of furniture and created a harmonious room from scratch.

Magnetic Hover Bed Costs $1.6 Million to Float in Your Bedroom

8:23 am in Bedroom Furniture, Furniture, Modern Furniture & Design by chris

How much would you be willing to spend on a new bed for your bedroom? If you said $1.6 million then I have the right bed for you, and this particular design can float on air. Seriously! Well, in all honesty, this bed is actually a magnetic hover bed, which means that a lot of research and development went into this bed concept. And it also means it could go through the roof so it needs to be tethered to the ground thus making the whole bedroom look pretty strange. But if you want to feel like floating when sleeping then all you need to do is pay the right price and anchor the magnetic hover bed in your equally expensive bedroom. Via Dornob

Sognibelli Wall Lamp Says Goodbye to Old Nightstands

9:12 am in Bedroom Furniture, Lamp, Wall by chris

Your bedroom definitely needs nightstands in its life, but why settle for an old design when you can have the Sognibelli wall lamps installed instead? The Sognibelli lamp can be easily mounted on your wall and thus replace your regular nightstand. Not only does the Sognibelli lamp look great but it's also very eco-friendly as it uses LED lighting. You're going to tell me that you read a lot of books and that shelf there doesn't have enough space for your latest book, your glasses, the alarm clock and who knows what else. But what if you replaced those books with a handy eBook reader, which will also save some forests in the process? That way your storage problems will be solved and you'd get to keep the Sognibelli wall lamp instead of the old nightstand. Via Gumdesign
