Bench #13 Is Made of Concrete and Wood

10:57 pm in Chairs & Bar Stools, Design, Interior Design, Modern Design, Outdoor Furniture, Patio & Outdoor Furniture, Wood by chris

The bench in the images below, Bench #13, is combining two simple design elements, concrete and wood, and could be used as a seating solution in a variety of places from public locations, such as parks, to personal homes, whether for interior purposes or as a modern piece of outdoor furniture. The combination of wood and concrete is unique, and the Bench #13 itself is surely going to be appreciated by your guests or those bystanders looking for a place to rest during their short lunch breaks. But what I'd be really interested to find out is what really happened to Bench number #1 to #13, and what materials were used to build those. Via Niko Yektai

Knitted Chairs Look Very Comfortable But Are They Safe?

4:40 am in Chairs & Bar Stools, Design, Furniture, Modern Design, Stool, Wood by chris

The following stools designed by Claire-Anne O'Brien look great. In fact I can't imagine more comfortable chairs than the Knitted Chairs in the images below. The Knitted Chairs are made from two simple materials, wood and wool and the obvious question that comes to mind regards their safety. Can we really use the Knitted Chairs to sit on or are they supposed to be just a work of art meant to be displayed in one's home? In case you're thinking about ordering a bunch of such Knitted Chairs for seating purposes, make sure you ask more details about the way they work and particularly about whether they can sustain the weight of an average human body or not. Cervo Chair Is a Flexible Deer-Like Seating Idea

11:52 pm in Chairs, Chairs & Bar Stools, Concept, Design, Furniture, Idea, Modern Design, Modern Furniture, Wood by chris

Yesterday we showed you a table made out of bent wood that looked like a flower, the Petalas Coffee Table, and today we have for you a matching seat for it, the Cervo Chair. This seating concept is made out of various strips of molded plywood and the whole thing looks like a very flexible deer to me. The Cervo Chair will certainly make an impression with your guests, and although it looks very fragile at first sight, I'm sure it will be able to offer you plenty of support and comfort. The Cervo Chair is available in natural playwood and in natural wood upholstered in black leather, so go ahead, choose your deer-like Cervo Chair version now! Via Antonio Pio Saracino

Petalas Coffee Table Looks Like a Flower But Without all the Perfume

11:05 am in Coffee Table, Coffee, End & Side Tables, Modern Design, Modern Furniture, Table, Tables, Wood by chris

The Petalas Coffee Table is a Brazilian design inspired by flowers. The table is made by the Etel company and uses eight different wood panels to create each petal. The wood is shaped and bent in such a way so each of the eight legs of the table is actually part of its corresponding petal. The Petalas Coffee Table measures 55 x 55 x 12 inches, and I'm sure you'll find an appropriate use for it as soon as you have purchased yours. Now only if there was a way to make these Petalas actually blossom each day and engulf the living room with their perfume... Via Etel

I-Radium’s Infrared Heaters Look Like Sculptures Rather Than Radiators

4:14 am in Art, General, Radiators, Wood by Tanya

The I-Radium's Infrared Heaters transcends the boundaries of design and form thanks to it's unique styling. Resembling wall art rather than a heater, the series will appeal to the discerning consumer who values both form and function. Constructed from high quality wood, the infrared heaters is environmentally sustainable and visually stunning. The irony of converting wood into an heating object rather than fuel material is not lost on anyone either. The I-Radium's Infrared Heaters comes in an array of shapes but my personal favorites are "Morphosis," which gives an illusion of a wall mounted sculpture and "Gigi," which stands tall and has a very interesting silhouette.

Gift Guide For Holidays – Glass And Oak, Mortar And Pestle

8:22 am in General, Glass, Kitchen Accessories, Wood by Tanya

Gastro Gnomes would be familiar with the importance of tools like Mortar and Pestle when it comes to making delicious gourmet quality food. Used to crush spices, herbs and other solid substances, mortars and pestles are usually made of hard wood, marble, clay and are designed pretty unimaginatively. However the same cannot be said for the Glass and Oak, Mortar and Pestle which looks more like a stunning showpiece than a kitchen tool! This sculpturistic looking creating will inspire many epicurean fantasies and make the art of crushing spices more enjoyable. The pestle is made from a strong colored glass and has been designed to act as a solid tool for crushing and grinding. Where as the mortal is made from Oak and can also be used as a cutting board. The Glass and Oak, Mortar and Pestle has been designed by Shira Keret and can be purchased from Etsy.

Pretzel Rattan Bench Accommodates As Many Guests As Needed

8:01 am in Design, Furniture, Modern Design, Patio & Outdoor Furniture, Rattan, Wood by chris

The Pretzel Bench will not offer support for an infinite number of guests, but it will certainly be very useful during those outdoors parties you happen to throw every now and then. The Pretzel Bench is made from rattan, which happens to be found in abundance in Indonesia. No wonder that an Indonesian designer created the Pretzel Bench! But that doesn't mean you won't be able to make it yourself or order it in any other region of the world. The rattan, basically the stem of a palm tree, is pretty elastic as it can bend and stretch and then return to its initial shape without sustaining any damage. And if the Pretzel Bench would break you could easily replace it with a new one quite easily. All you need is some extra rattan around the house! Via Coroflot

Wave Door Welcomes You In After You Finish Admiring Its Design

10:07 pm in Architecture, Design, Furniture, House, Modern Design, Modern Furniture & Design, Wood by chris

Boring doors? No, thank you, I'll get myself a door with personality, a door that will inspire my guests, a door that will also provide sufficient security... the Wave Door. All right, I'm not going to change my door right now, when winter is coming but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it too. The Wave Door is definitely a curious door design, but one that will work in your favor as it will certainly impress your guests that will linger on at the entrance to admire it. The Wave Door is 17-feet tall and 5.5-feet wide but that's not the impressive part. What's impressive is that the door is made out of 40 sections of Burmese teak and each of them can move around. Hence, when opening it you get a Wave Door that definitely pleases the eye of the visitor. Via Matharoo Associates
