Wall Art for the Kitchen

12:28 am in Wall Art by Katie

I know I’ve been talking about wall art quite often lately, but it’s because we have a big empty wall in our kitchen that desperately needs some art lovin’. But I can’t decide what to do.

Part of me loves the idea of black and white photography in a nice gallery arrangement, or perhaps all black and white with one pop of random color. But then I also like the idea of all different colors, because the wall is a semi-neutral brown that would allow some pinks, yellows and blues. If you have any advice or suggestions, I’d be glad to hear it!

The first image above is a collage I made on Art.com. To narrow down our options of wall art, we bought a Groupon for Art.com a few months ago, so that way we wouldn’t go crazy all over the Internet. I don’t know who rationalized that thought because we’ve had so much trouble narrowing down choices. So much so, that we couldn’t decide and the Groupon expired, but that’s ok. Speaking of Groupon, did you know they now offer deals in London and all of UK? I think I’ve told you that my parents live in London so Mom, if you’re reading this -check it out – they’ve got some great furniture and home decor deals there as well!

Anyway, I’m going to continue my search for the perfect look – thank God for Pinterest! Have you done anything fun in your kitchen that might help us out? Do share!

DIY to Try: Ceiling Medallion Wall Art

Here’s a DIY that anyone can try. Sometimes I see awesome DIYs and lose faith three sentences in because I know I’ll somehow mess it up. But this DIY, I know I can handle! All you have to do is find a ceiling medallion or two – or ten – that you like, throw some paint on and hang those babies up!

You could also just leave them white, if that’s what you prefer. But I’m leaning towards different shades of one color. I also prefer the medallions that are solid in the center, as opposed to the those with holes in the center. But you could always fill those with molding or a mirror or even a photo if you need something in the center.

My bedroom is in need of some wall decor, so I think I’ll be tackling this easy DIY sometime in the near future. What about you? Where would you implement this DIY?

I’m looking for new and interesting ways to decorate walls without spending a fortune. The first DIY above involves scrapbook paper, which I can’t ever get enough of because of all the bright colors and fun patterns. Instead of mounting them all on one piece, I think I would frame individual pieces or do only a few of the squares. Either way, I would definitely frame it!

The second DIY is such an awesome, quirky idea – especially since it uses silhouettes, my new fave! I love this idea and hope I’m crafty enough to recreate it in my own home.

As for the third DIY,  it was really the large canvas that captured my heart. Also because its a great, easy, stylish way to bring in color.

Do you have any wall art DIYs to share with us? We’d love to see them!

Could your home use a little wall art?

10:13 pm in Designer Spotlight, Wall Art by Shellie

Many people aren’t even aware that there is such a thing as WallArt but there is! No, not art hanging on your walls but literally turning your walls into eye-opening, jaw-dropping pieces of art. A Padstyle reader shared this link with us in the comment of the Top 25 Blogs entry and it certainly is one worth exploring!

What is WallArt?

WallArt adds three-dimensional, gorgeous design and depth to any wall using fibrous residue that’s made from sugarcane. That’s right, it’s eco-friendly too! They explain the whole process on their website but what is left is a raw material that is 100 percent biodegradable! It doesn’t really get better than that does it? Oh, but it does!

What They Offer

WallArt is available in different designs such as ellipses, vaults, gaps, bricks, waves, sweeps, cubes, pitches, splashes, kites, craters and squares (as shown). Dutch Design Academy Eindhoven is the talent behind this striking featured design. The wall panels are 19.7” x 19.7” and believe it or not, they’re easy to install too! A single WallArt kit contains 12 panels which will cover a considerable amount of wall space.

If you need a focal point in a room or desperately need to add a little depth, creativity and mystery to a space that’s just not exciting you anymore, WallArt may be just what you’re looking for. You can view their entire collection online at the WallArt website.

NYU Student Wall Art for Sale

6:48 am in Art, General, Sale, Wall Art by John

Furniture Fashion was contacted by students of NYU that are selling art as part of a group project. The class centers on entrepreneurship where a group of students decided to create contemporary design objects and sell them online. The website is called youMocoDesigns and it is definitely worth a look to support a good cause and frankly, the prices are very reasonable. I included some wall art samples in this article, but the entire collection can be seen at yourMocoDesigns.
