Cabinet of Curiosities

4:50 pm in Furniture, Storage by Troy Turner

Using the stories of their materials to create new and strong narratives, the M.&Mme series of cabinets aim to provide a functional and relational experience for the subject. The porthole and repurposed bankirai wood ship-plank doors give a nod to their watery roots and present a nostalgia toward their previous lives. Even if Spanish-Mediterranean isn’t your style, you’ll love the craftsmanship.

DIY Custom Shelving

3:53 pm in Furniture, Shelf, Shelving, Storage by Troy Turner

I wuvvv the practical design of this shelving system. The shelves of the S03 can be assembled to any size or combination to adapt to the desired space. For easy and cost-efficient transportation, the European beech components fit together snugly to create the smallest, most compact packing size possible.

Not For Insectophobes

12:15 am in Drawers, Furniture, Storage by Troy Turner

While visiting a natural history museum, designer Jingfeng Fang got inspired when admiring a piece of wood that had been devoured by worms. For this five drawer set  he used a drill to create a dynamic pattern imitating bug bites. I’m  not usually for something made to look “old”  or weathered  but this interesting and humorous design evokes the imagination of a past event with distinctive storytelling.

Call Me a Nerd, but…

4:02 pm in Furniture, Storage by Troy Turner

Bands like Jump Little Children, Beirut, and the Arcade Fire have helped me come to appreciate the accordion, and in turn, this design. That is precisely the relationship the Accordion Cabinet hopes to build with you. Mixed wood and wooden textile combine to form a flexible skin surrounding the solid wood shelving on top of it’s long legs. Those who can make the association are sure to form a long lasting relationship with this piece.

Alphabet Furniture from Set26

10:54 pm in SixDW: A New Beginning, Storage by Lyn

Sometimes we need things spelled out for us…other times we just like the way it looks! Seems like both are the case with this Alphabet Furniture from Set26. These oversized letters are available in six different colors: blue, grey, red, yellow, silver and white.

As you can see, they can be used in both residential or commercial settings. They send a message so that visitors know where certain things are, as displayed in the INFO set. Something like DRINK is a great marketing message that encourages customers to keep doing a certain action.

In residential settings, the Alphabet Furniture is an awesome way to personalize a space, perhaps with a name, rather than KID! With shelving space on the back of each letter, they’re a clever way to stay organized while adding some personalized style.

Set26’s website has a configurator that enables you to write out words in the Alphabet Furniture in their six available colors. Check that out here.

Exhibi-Table Shows Everyone What You’re Currently Reading

The Exhibi-Table is not exactly a home office table; in fact it's not exactly a table for your home but rather for your business, in case your business is selling books and magazines. The table has its own storage shelves embedded right in it and that area can be used to display all the books and magazines you're trying to pitch to your customers. Besides showing various titles to your audience the Exhibi-Table can act as a regular table too, and, if you insist, you could get one for home too, although you'd have little-to-no use for it on most days. So, anyone particularly interested in this Exhibi-Table? Via Yanko Design

Little Collection Height Gauge Wardrobe For Growing Children

5:11 am in Closets, Kids & Nursery Furniture, Storage by Tanya

As children, nothing excited us more than measuring our height on a regular basis. This fun yet poignant memory from childhood has been captured beautifully by French designer Sebastian Bergne in his Little Collection Height Gauge Wardrobe. The eco-friendly contemporary furniture collection has a height gauge engraved on the door so that growing kids can measure how tall they are whenever they want. There are also removable hooks which allow children to hang their coats, school bags etc on the inside or on the outside. Apart from these fun details, what also makes this two-tone beechwood wardrobe worthy is the fact that it inculcates a sense of responsibility in kids since it teaches them how to clean up like adults. The The Little Collection Height Gauge Wardrobe can be purchased from here for $403.20.

The BrickBox is a bookcase composed of various boxes that can be moved around in order for the bookcase to follow the shape of the wall and adjust to corners. Not to mention that, once you're ready to move, each box becomes, well, a box, in which you will be able to transport all the stuff you have. There are three kind of boxes to take advantage of, Reinforced Boxes, Standard Boxes and Small Boxes, which are all made of birch plywood of 10mm and are waiting to become a part of your new bookcase.
