Modular Maestro

4:02 pm in Children, Music by Troy Turner

Blu is a modern musical instrument that draws inspiration from the keyboard, re-imagining keys in a modular and flexible way. Much in the same way a child learns to build structures from toy blocks, they can learn to understand tonality and song composition simply by changing the position of the modular keys around the central unit to control pitch and timing of the notes. Its smart, colorful user interface makes learning music an exciting and memorable experience.

As you might have guessed by its name, the Ambidextro keytar was designed for use by righties and lefties alike. 360º of Sound

11:41 pm in Music, Speakers by Long Tran

I’m sure from the looks of it, you could decipher how the Bell Tweeter works. Sound radiates 360º from the cone. Change the volume by spinning the body. There are some definite advantages to this setup over the traditional ones, namely being able to evenly fill a room with sound. With multiple bells, one could easily adapt their current setup to accommodate audio delivered in every direction.

Rhythm in a Cup

8:25 pm in Music by Radhika-Seth

There was an era in Indian television (somewhere in the 80’s) that for fillers between two programs they used to play the Jal Tarang. Fascinating ceramic bowls filled with water that produces the most profound music! A look at the Drinking The Music concept and I’m reminded of that era. Although oriental teacups inspire this concept, I can see the connection between water and music. Can you?

Music in a Bottle

11:56 pm in Music by Long Tran

The Genie concept distills the idea of an MP3 player back to it’s simplest function. No docking or syncing required. Instead, Genie plays music relevant to your mood. Feeling giddy? How about some pop music? Perhaps you’ve had a long day at the office and need to unwind. Genie might play a little Bach. The design itself is meant to look like a sculpture. The conical shape helps radiates sound and eliminates the need for traditional speaker grills.

Copy Cat

3:01 pm in Music by Troy Turner

From boosts in IQ scores to improvements in self esteem,  music is a valuable activity  that can contribute immensely to the development of a child. Copy Cats is an early education tool that brings playtime and learning together in the form of interactive stories, or “cat-tales,” introducing kids to basic music elements such as singing, playing, listening, and even composing. I don’t even think I could resist pushing those cute kitty-cat-buttons.

The Block

3:47 pm in Music by Troy Turner

This amp is made of aluminum, stainless steel, and 100% pure common sense. The super-cool looking Block amplifier sticks strictly to Hi-Fi audio rules by placing the components that spread the most electromagnetic interference (AC, power transformers, chokes) in individual compartments the furthest distance possible from audio lines. Block’s main soundboard swings up on hinges to enable dusting of the internal electronics without the need to disconnect cumbersome wires.
