Super Flex Sofa

4:01 pm in Furniture, Lounge, Seating, Sofa by Troy Turner

At first glance, the extreme curves and modern, seamless textured material make the Vesna Sofa almost unrecognizable as a place to lounge. This eye-catching sculptural piece is fluid in both form and movement as it flexes and bends to the user to make them feel so snug and comfy the designers at Nuvist even describe it as the “ultimate relaxation getaway.”

The Box Lounger

3:01 pm in Furniture, Lounge, Seating by Troy Turner

Gotta love this cozy design by Ivar Gestranius and Kevin Lahtinen. The Box Lounger may look like little more than a funky design with a retro feel but it’s actually quite functional. The inside is fitted with super-soft, comfy cushioning that also happens to be great at absorbing sounds, making it the perfect “mini-office” for making phone calls, working on a laptop, or just relaxing. Available in a variety of different colors, its square shape also makes a great room divider.

Meditate On This

3:02 pm in Furniture, Lounge, Seating by Troy Turner

Remember those egg-shaped Henrik Thor-Larsen chairs that were all the rage in the 60s? Well, this is kinda like that but a tad minimal and a whole lot more nimble. It’s the ZzZen chair and it rocks… literally.  There isn’t a single straight edge allowing it to roll back-and-forth or side-to-side. Durable and lightweight plastic make it functional as an indoor or outdoor chair while it’s low reclined seating position optimizes comfort. Yogis are sure to love.

Miter Lounge

3:01 pm in Couch, Furniture, Lounge, Seating, Sofa by Troy Turner

This piece by designer Tom Fereday features clean lines, clear functionality, and an overall look of simplicity. The hand crafted American oak veneer with miter detail wraps perfectly around the natural wool felt upholstery, and the color is fantastic. It also happens to be perfectly compact.

Sit & Be Enlightened

4:08 pm in Furniture, Living, Lounge, Seating by Troy Turner

The Satvic Lounge Series is an expression of pure equilibrium between mind & body, universe & self. Individual materials for each model carry a deep representation of the relationship between the user & their environment, e.g., the raw wood base met with the polycarbonate  seat represent the earth as being the only place a pure soul can be aware of it’s existence. I told you it was deep! The question to ask is not which one you like, but, which one you need.

Sitting Next to People at the Airport

12:36 am in Lounge, Outdoor, Seating by Long Tran

5% annual growth of global commercial air passenger traffic means more people in an airport terminal at one time. The AEROS  project looks to improve seating efficiency by tackling personal space issues through the use of table and seating arrangements. Current tandem seating is ineffective. People tend to avoid sitting next to strangers. In some cases bags are put on top of seats intentionally to create a barrier.

The layout proposes an alternating 1 : 2 seating arrangement with tables in between. You gain more seating capacity and provide more utilitarian space for passengers. Thin metal sheets with thin high density foam form the streamline feel to the chair. Neutrals are used in order to blend well with most airports while the plywood is used to bring warmth to these pedestrian spaces.

Twisted and Molded for Sitting

4:03 pm in Furniture, Living, Lounge, Seating by Chris-Burns

The following is an exercise in sculpting. A project of carbon fiber proportions, one made when the designer Allen Chester G. Zhang was experimenting with shapes and materials. The project Zhang set for himself was a chair for hotels and cafes, and indeed that’s what’s appearing in the gallery inside this post. A lovely black and hopefully charcoal gray can be seen in each image. This is a chair made for sitting back and drinking up a cold soda or coffee all day long.

On the front you sit, in the back you store. A loose fitting storage bit on the back spells out how relaxed your situation in and around this chair is meant to be, and smooth flowing will your chi and blood be moving.

Surfer Sofa Brings You Modular Comfort

12:47 am in Chairs & Bar Stools, Furniture, Lounge, Modern Design, Modern Furniture, Sofa, Sofas by chris

The Surfer Sofa is another modular piece of furniture, a sofa that's comprised of three independent, differently shaped and differently colored pieces, which can be arranged around the apartment according to your needs and requirements. The use of wool is very much welcomed and will surely make the Surfer Sofa one of the most desired seating solutions in your house for both you and your guests. More importantly, the Surfer Sofa doesn't have to be a sofa all the time as each piece that's part of it can act as a single chair or lounge. Not to mention that at night the Surfer Sofa can be easily turned into a comfortable bed for your overnight guests, and that wool will certainly play its part when it comes to offering them a good night's sleep. Frank Willems’ Madam Rubens Collection

3:15 am in Couches, Lounge, Sofas by Tanya

Frank Willems' Madam Rubens Collection looks something straight out of a Tim Burton movie, but don't be fooled with the caricature design elements as there is actually a method to the madness. Willems repurposes old mattresses something which he should be commended for as we all know discarding mattress can be a journey from hell. After bending, twisting and folding the mattress to create quirky shapes, Willems then sprays them with a hygienic, water-resistant foam coating and then paints it!

"Madam Rubens is a plump but sophisticated lady after an extreme makeover. She started her life as a mattress, but was thrown away after years of loyal service... After a full coating in a color at choice, Madam Rubens is back in business as a fresh, hygienic and exceptionally stylish stool."
