Gift Ideas: Marmeled Jelly LED Lamps

8:17 am in Gift Ideas, Lamps, Lamps & Lighting, Led, holidays by Tanya

Statuary Warning: Not suitable for individuals that are on a diet!

Quirky yet thoughtful items always makes for the perfect gift and the Marmeled Jelly Lamps seem to fit this criteria. Don't fooled by the jars as the Marmeled Jelly Lamps are not edible and are to be strictly used as lighting objects. The jars light up due it the immersion of high-luminosity LED in the shiny gel and one has to just turn the jar upside-down and place it on the metal lid to switch on the lamp. The Marmeled Jelly Lamps are available in a plethora of colors and can be ordered online from here.

Delicious Wave Microwave Oven Moonlights as a Lamp

12:39 am in Home Appliances, Kitchen Design & Furniture, Lamp, Lamps & Lighting, Modern Design by chris

We're living through some harsher economic times and even home appliances have it tough. In order to survive day-to-day life they're forced to get second jobs and make sacrifices. But seriously speaking, the Delicious Wave Microwave Oven will not only work as a regular microwave during the day but it also help you illuminate your kitchen and/or dining area. The Delicious Wave Microwave Oven will make popcorn now or keep food warm for yoy, only to act as a handy lamp thereafter, so you would probably use it around the clock. The concept is very interesting so we can only hope it will be picked up by Electrolux later down the road. We also hope that the Delicious Wave Microwave Oven will use microwaves only when heating up our next meal and not when bringing some light to our kitchen. Via Yanko Design

DSNL: Day Shade Doubles as Night Light

10:47 am in Design, Eco Friendly, Lamps, Lamps & Lighting, Modern Design, Outdoor Furniture, Patio & Outdoor Furniture, Solar Power by chris

The DSNL is not some sort of brand new type of faster Internet connection. It is instead a concept that combines two devices you could use around the house: a day shade and a night light. That's what DSNL stands for actually: day shade and night light. As you can see in the images below the DSNL acts as a Day Shade during the day and while shading you from the sun it also harvests the sun's energy thanks to those solar panels on top. Then, at night it becomes a Night Light that will use the energy stored during the day to shed light on your late-night work-related activities, and not only. The DSNL uses OLEDs to offer you that precious, eco-friendly light so each solar charge could last for quite a while. Are you already thinking about ordering a DSNL for yourself? Via Yanko Design

Alabaster Lamp Series By Cabelliluce

5:55 am in Lamps, Lamps & Lighting, Light by Tanya

The almost sublime Alabaster Lamp Series redefines lighting equipment thanks to its design fluidity and impenitent style. Conceptualized by Cabelliluce, the translucency in the lamps is what draws you in instantly and the alabaster natural material highlights the almost surreal veins and patterns that seem to run endlessly throughout the lamps. The series is available in a number of iterations from table lamps, to floor lamps to pendant lamps and each avatar resonates with individuality that leans one to an hypnotic introspective. The Italian Alabaster Lamp Series is a great example of how experimentation can lead to a flawless singular design thought.

Favorite Things Lamp Can Share More Than Light

4:27 am in Concept, Lamps, Lamps & Lighting, Lighting, Modern Design by chris

The Favorite Things Lamp is not just a simple lighting solution, but you probably guessed that already since we're featuring it here. The Favorite Things Lamp also comes with a storage/display area in which you could squeeze various objects or decorations. That way you'd share with everyone in your home more than light; a piece of your personality. The display case is 17.7-inch in diameter so there's plenty of room inside it for all sorts of objects. Hopefully your lucky charms or Christmas decorations won't melt once inside the Favorite Things Lamp, although you could make sure to use a LED light with it instead of a regular incandescent bulb. Coral Lamp is Eco-Friendly to the Max But There’s No Nemo and Dory Around

1:11 am in Eco Friendly, Lamp, Lamps & Lighting, Lights by chris

We have recently shown you a concept lamp based on birds made out of hands but with no actual birds in it and today we found a Coral Lamp, a lighting solution that will remind you about the beauty of the ocean and the endangered species the corals can offer housing to. But, just like with the Birds in Hand lamp design that lacked any birds, there's no actual fish shape here either. The Coral Lamp is made of glass and comes with solar panels on board capable of harvesting precious energy from the Sun that will make them glow at night in pretty colors. I bet this soothing light would surely attract Nemo's, but mostly Dory's attention as it's not every day that we get to see a lit up, eco-friendly coral that doesn't have ulterior motives, do we?. Bird in Hand Lamp Lights Any Room, Without the Birds

4:13 am in Concept, Lamp, Lamps & Lighting, Modern Design, Modern Furniture by chris

You know how you can use your hands to make the shape of a bird and bring a smile on a kid's face especially if you're playing with shadows on a wall? Well, what if we'd take the shape of a flying bird made by our hands and turn it into a lamp concept? That's probably what dutch designer J.P. Meulendijks was thinking of when he created the Bird in Hand lamp concept. The lamp is made of plenty of birds, as long as you're used to seeing birds in hands, and can be used to bring light to any room of your modern house. But the thing that the Bird in Hand lamp design doesn't have is an actual bird, so it's up to you to image it, and all those bird shapes there should help you with that. Via Plankton

Bang Lamp Gets Shot At Every Night; Somehow Survives

2:55 am in Design, Lamps & Lighting, Lighting, Modern Design by chris

The Bang Lamp in the images below is a great lighting solution for your home. And I bet your children would love it too as long as you teach them that actual guns aren't as fun as the Bang Lamp gun. In fact the lamp requires the gun to work properly. In order to turn the lamp off you have to point the gun at the lamp, fire, then place the gun back under your pillow and go to sleep. Okay, the pillow part is not absolutely necessary especially since the lamp's light will go out with a bang when the trigger is pressed. And the Bang Lamp will change positions, slightly tilting back to the side whenever shot at. But don't worry; the lamp will survive to light another day although it will have the same faith in the very near future. Via bitplayinc

The Skull Lamp Will Shine the Halloweens of the Future

4:15 am in Concept, Design, Lamps, Lamps & Lighting, Lighting, Modern Design by chris

It's too late to get this freaky, scary, surreal Skull Lamp for this year's Halloween but you can always buy it or make it yourself, if you got the skills, for next year's Halloween edition. The Lamps are created using a cast of a skull so they are pretty real, hence the scary part, and can be hanged around your house, the porch, and left around your entrance door. But make sure you don't scare your visitors too much, since instead trick or treating they might be TP-ing your home, which is definitely not the outcome you'd want from your Halloweens. And by the way, since you're probably getting ready for your local Halloween party, have a great time, with or without any Skull Lamps! Via Alex Garnett
