We're living through some harsher economic times and even home appliances have it tough. In order to survive day-to-day life they're forced to get second jobs and make sacrifices. But seriously speaking, the Delicious Wave Microwave Oven will not only work as a regular microwave during the day but it also help you illuminate your kitchen and/or dining area. The Delicious Wave Microwave Oven will make popcorn now or keep food warm for yoy, only to act as a handy lamp thereafter, so you would probably use it around the clock. The concept is very interesting so we can only hope it will be picked up by Electrolux later down the road. We also hope that the Delicious Wave Microwave Oven will use microwaves only when heating up our next meal and not when bringing some light to our kitchen. Via Yanko Design

Your kitchen could certainly use the Cut & Paste cutting board and special plate in the images below, especially if you're dealing with a tiny kitchen and always struggling for more space when preparing your next meal. The Cut & Paste is a solid maple cutting board that fits right inside a special porcelain plate. The Cut & Paste comes in various sizes and will certainly do the job expected of it, which is assisting with, well, cutting edible stuff and then storing it accordingly for later use. The medium version of the Cut & Paste will cost you £39.40, VAT included while the large model goes for £56.90, VAT included. Which one will you get? Via Made in Design

How much drinking water do you usually buy each week? How would you like to actually be able to purify that tap water and turn it into actual drinking water? Well that's possible right now thanks to the IDEO Filtrete water filtration system developed together with 3M. Not only will you be saving some extra cash on the long run by not buying sparkling or still water as often but you'll also help save the environment by significantly reducing your daily pet container output (up to 3,000 disposable water bottles per family per year.) The Filtrete Water Station launched at Walmart in July 2010 but will be available in other locations soon so you can check it out and test it for yourself. Your kitchen will certainly appreciate it! A modern kitchen definitely needs a dishwasher close by, just in case your daily dose of dirty dishes is just a little over what you can handle. You don't have to use this particular home appliance all the time, but whenever you'll throw a party or have a family lunch, you'll definitely appreciate its existence. And the more energy efficient your dishwasher really is the more you will use it. Miele and Baumatic are two companies that have two new eco-friendly washing machines. The new Miele EcoLine G5000 series dishwashers consume 2.65 gallons of water and 0.59-0.94 kWh or power. The Baumatic Ombra Collection OMBRA4SS uses 2.11 gallons of water per cycle and comes with a unique oven-like design meant to match the rest of your modern kitchen. Are you ready for an energy efficient dishwasher in your life? Via Unplggd

Future refrigerators will look a lot different than what we're used to see today and they're most likely to employ various technologies that are either not fully developed or not even invented yet. The fridge of the future in the images below will keep food in some sort of green sludge that appears to be a nanorobotic bio-gel that would surround all your food and keep it cool. That's definitely an interesting project and I only hope that green thing won't get mixed with my food, once I take it out of it. Seriously speaking though, such fridge is supposed to take up little space in your kitchen, especially when mostly empty, and it will be able to get energy from the air and use it to keep all your food cool. I'm just curios whether this thing can dispose ice too, again, without any bio-gel in it. Via Dornob

When looking at the images below you'll think I'm showing you a concept kitchen that's light years away from becoming an actual product but a Living Kitchen might be closer than you think. The Living Kitchen in the images below is supposedly uses a technology called claytronics. The material contains millions of small robots that are able to stick and communicate with each other. That means the owner of such a Living Kitchen would be able to play with the material as she or he sees fit. Create shapes out of such a wall and then transform them into sinks, cutting boards, strange cutting devices, and even plates, which can be cut out and taken with you around the house. Would you get yourself such a Living Kitchen? Via Michael Harboun

The Sheer Kitchen is an interesting kitchen concept that will not only help you make the most of the available space in your apartment but also attract plenty of attention from your friends. From the outside it looks like a perfect sphere and people will think it's supposed to be a modern art object. But when removing the top half, which actually is a section responsible for lighting and ventilation, you'll discover a circular work top, a sink, four burners, bottle coolers, a pull-out tablet, electric outlets for kitchen appliances and some storage space. The oven and the refrigerator together with some cabinets and folded chairs are all held in an independent wall unit also part of this Sheer Kitchen. So what do you say, ready to order a Sheer Kitchen for yourself? Via 2Modern
