PicsaHouse, the latest from Kassen Lifestyle, is a unique and cost-effective prefab housing solution that looks to relieve some of the problems with current housing systems. Most prefab houses use the same techniques as stud-fram building, leading to the same inherent structural and insulation issues, but the PicsaHouse has adapted techniques from bridge building, making it quick to build while requiring less maintenance over time… exactly how a prefab should be.

Bridge sections, careful waterproofing, carefully placed awnings, and reinforced concrete maximize insulatory capacity while making the house durable and diminishing heating and cooling costs. The stackable bridge sections also make it possible to expand a single level home to two-stories simply by adding a stairwell unit to the lower portion and a modular section on top.

Designer: <a

Designed as a getaway from the hustle of the city, this minimal “Bungaloo” design by Paul Cremoux has a stripped-down feel that leaves little to be desired. A blend of low-carbon concrete, interesting textures, and beau-coups of natural sunlight compliment its raw aesthetic. Using eco-friendly materials and appliances run on methane discharges, the bungalow’s CO2 footprint is calculated to be a mere 1 ton during production and 400 kilograms per year.

To further reduce its carbon footprint, temperature control is achieved by a geothermal pipe that runs through the ground connecting directly into the concrete shell.

Designer: <a

In their vernacular forms the country cabin and beach house are most often envisioned as rough and woody as well as shingled and white-washed, respectively. Finding inspiration in Woodstock, NY and Fire Island, NY, Italian architect Andrea Salvini’s conceptualizations of the classics have been updated aesthetically and to the era of eco-efficiency.

Designer: Andrea Salvini

The Crab House’s updated stilt design was inspired by- you guessed it, the legs of a crab. The architectural verticality of this project is in response to an effort to preserve the existing garden area.

Inspired by the work of Andrew Gellar, the Hexagon beach house is striking and unique.

The Modern Cabin’s design was developed through minimizing and stylizing the lines and architectural elements of the classic American cabin.

Someone shared this video of how a tiny apartment in Hong Kong transforms into 24 rooms! This is a challenge faced by designers world over; converting shoeboxes and irregular grounds to something majestic and spacious called home. Have a look at one such challenge called the Fold Place. As the name suggests, it is a narrow irregular plot of 20′x60′ that’s converted in to a spectacular home for the Campbells.

The Push Button House is a great house concept and the architect that design this particular home really went out-of-the-box for this one. Or should I better say inside the box since the Push Button House is always going to be part of a container; you know, the kind of containers that are used to ship various products all over the world in giant boats. The Push Button House offers a great design, and the container hides a great room setup. The only problem here is that the container home is not really practical as the entire living area is always trapped inside that big box. So how could one actually use it to live in? Any ideas?
Boring doors? No, thank you, I'll get myself a door with personality, a door that will inspire my guests, a door that will also provide sufficient security... the Wave Door. All right, I'm not going to change my door right now, when winter is coming but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it too. The Wave Door is definitely a curious door design, but one that will work in your favor as it will certainly impress your guests that will linger on at the entrance to admire it. The Wave Door is 17-feet tall and 5.5-feet wide but that's not the impressive part. What's impressive is that the door is made out of 40 sections of Burmese teak and each of them can move around. Hence, when opening it you get a Wave Door that definitely pleases the eye of the visitor. Via <a href="http://www.matharooassociates.com/"rel="nofollow">Matharoo Associates

There really aren't that many houses out there that will let you climb all the way to the top of their roofs on a regular basis. But the staircase-shaped house will certainly make sure that, at any time you'd want to, you could actually go on top of the roof and enjoy the view. The roof of the house looks like a flight of stairs and underneath it you'll find plenty of interesting rooms to explore. The staircase-shaped house will let you make the most of natural light during the day while also guarding your privacy. From the looks of it this concept house has lots of space to accommodate all your needs, and it would certainly be a great place to raise a family.
This particular home design is a very daring project. The Balancing Barn home is a real house that currently likes to live on the edge of a hill. For $300 you can rent the house for one night and experience living in it yourself. The house on the hill can be found "a few miles inland from the Suffolk (England) coast" and it has plenty of space to accommodate 8 people. The Balancing Barn has a very interesting design with over 50% of it suspended above the ground, but contrary to its name, it won't tip over as long as that particular hill doesn't decide to move on its own. The Balancing Barn, with its "elegant silver tiles," is definitely a fun vacation house to experience if you happen to be around Suffolk, England.
The images below show you a Fovea Architects creation, the Crooked House, which seems to be a regular Swiss home that just happens to have tumbled over. But the Crooked House isn't upside down, and looking at it from a closer angle we discover its magic. We have at a two-story home that has an interestingly shaped second floor. The floor in question is inclined at a 40-degree angle but thanks to those huge windows the views upstairs are incredible. Those large windows will let in plenty of light during the day, while also guarding your privacy in the process. And we also assume the inside of this unusual home is filled with out-of-the-box furniture ideas, although the images that we currently have mostly focus on the exterior.
