To achieve the shape, three triangular areas are cut from a single sheet of stainless steel, the sheet is bent into form and the two end points are welded together. The result is a modular object composed of two X shapes that works independently or arranged in a series. In a variety of hues and finishes, the table is adaptable to almost any motif.

Inspired by the work of kinetic sculptors Theo Jansen & Reuben Margolin, the Kanagawa Coffee Table is the result of a merge between the warm aesthetic of wood and cold feel of mechanics. The table is constructed of 298 pieces of laser cut Baltic Birch plywood, oak dowels, rubber “o” rings, and conduit that are set into an elegant & complex wave motion with a turn of the hand crank. The clear glass top makes for the perfect window to view the inner workings & measures at 50″x30″, offering plenty of usable space.

Designer Nicola Loi’s goal in creating the Mirtillo table was to achieve a clean shape with maximum simplicity while maintaining recognizable originality. The polarizing design features two sides with hard lines & an unsupported corner that provides a light & an open view into the core of the table. In contrast, the opposing sides feature soft, flowing curves & a shaved corner with a narrower, more curious view into to the table’s lower center. I’d love to see this piece in pure white or clear polycarbonate.

Pelago, the latest from designer Johan Lang, is a multi-functional table with a mid-century feel that uses hinged legs to allow the user to easily adjust the height depending on their needs. Perfect for compact living spaces, the table can be adjusted to 40cm, 45cm, and 53cm, functioning as a small dining table, coffee table, or console table.

I have a strange pet peeve- I hate when people display things on top of their coffee tables. Doesn’t matter if its books, photo albums, or knickknacks… it drives me crazy. Problem solved! Ok, so maybe it’s not really a prob to anyone else, but it’s exactly why I appreciate Mitch Steinmetz’s Rememberance coffee table. Instead of acting as a medium for the user and their entertainment, it becomes the entertainment…Taking the form of the common album, the coffee table flips open to reveal tchotchkes, memorabilia, photos etc., encouraging the creation of new memories while cataloging old ones.

Operating structurally like large cradles, the Phil lamp and coffee table by Ignacio Garcia are sure to be attention grabbers in any living space.
