Stack Me Up Chair Uses Books to Grow Old With You

12:39 am in Chairs & Bar Stools, Concept, Kids, Kids & Nursery Furniture, Modern Design, Modern Furniture by chris

What better way to measure your kid's growth than by getting him/her a chair that changes sizes with help of a few good old books as he/she grows. That's what the Stack Me Up Chair will do for you. As you can easily see in the images below, the chair can be adjusted to fit readers of all sizes, from kids to grownups. But in order for the Stack Me Up Chair to work you'll need to sacrifice some of your old books and use them to support the chair and the weight of the person using it. The Stack Me Up Chair can be a great chair idea for your children who are just starting school since, as they grow, this chair will grow right beside them. Via Yanko Design

Prooff’s EarChair Creates Space Within Space

9:32 am in Chairs, Chairs & Bar Stools, Modern Chairs, Modern Design by Tanya

The sculpturistic EarChair is all about creating a space within a space and epitomizes Dutch company Prooff's penchant for designing furniture that encourages "intimate dialogue for public space," . Apart from the expressive minimalism and the path-breaking form factor, the EarChair will offer stimulation to any given environment. The upholstered mammoth lounge chair is available in a plethora of sizes and though Prooff doesn't use any complex techniques it still manages to look fairly ceremonial. The chairs are available in a number of shades and fabric choices and according to Prooff that diverse fabrics "allow for every room to take on its own personal character."

Those of you that want to bring even more eco-friendliness living to your home should consider melting a few old tires into a comfy and very modern-looking Hermit Crab Chair. Well you wouldn't do the melting yourself as designer Joseph Kin seems to have a way of doing that for you. The Hermit Crab Chairs in the images below are made of used tires and ceramic and they sure look pretty comfortable. The old tire offers plenty of elastic support as it makes up for the legs of this Hermit Crab Chair while the ceramic brings ergonomics to the whole design. 4:34 am in Chairs & Bar Stools, Furniture, Modern Design, Modern Furniture, Outdoor Furniture, Patio & Outdoor Furniture by chris

The Cyclone Lounger is inspired by the Cyclone Rollercoaster and although it might lack any twists and turns or ups and downs, it's still an interesting lounger design. The Cyclone Lounger could definitely offer you a great ride towards the perfect afternoon nap but it could also be the perfect outdoor piece of furniture you were looking for. Since it's made of laser-cut steel and wood, the Cyclone Lounger can be placed both outside and inside so it's up to you to find a great spot for it. And if these rollercoaster lines appeal to you then you should definitely check out the complete Coney Island Line for more furniture items inspired by Coney Island and its rides. Via Uhuru Design

Las Vegas, the city of sin, indulgence and drunken soirees just got a new hotel and spa located bang in the middle of the new "City Center". The Vdara Hotel & Spa has been designed for the global traveller but its their Silk Road Restaurant that has caught our attention. Designed by the inimitable Karim Rashid, the restaurant is a rich melange of lush colors, eclectic aesthetics and contemporary furniture. The seating in particular deserves a special mention since it plays off beautifully with the given space. The Eboll chairs are from design seat firm Capdell and the chairs are comfortable, luxurious and oh so hip. A total of 178 Eboli chairs by Cadpdell have been installed in the Silk Road Hotel and the chairs correctly highlight the emerging design dynamism creeping in Vegas hotels.

Bench #13 Is Made of Concrete and Wood

10:57 pm in Chairs & Bar Stools, Design, Interior Design, Modern Design, Outdoor Furniture, Patio & Outdoor Furniture, Wood by chris

The bench in the images below, Bench #13, is combining two simple design elements, concrete and wood, and could be used as a seating solution in a variety of places from public locations, such as parks, to personal homes, whether for interior purposes or as a modern piece of outdoor furniture. The combination of wood and concrete is unique, and the Bench #13 itself is surely going to be appreciated by your guests or those bystanders looking for a place to rest during their short lunch breaks. But what I'd be really interested to find out is what really happened to Bench number #1 to #13, and what materials were used to build those. Via Niko Yektai

This Library Comes With a Reading Chair or Vice Versa

8:40 am in Chairs & Bar Stools, Home Storage & Shelving, Modern Design, Modern Furniture, Shelving by chris

The circular library in the images below is a custom project that combines two things book lovers would like, a good personalized library and a comfortable reading chair. This particular home library has a circular shape and enough storage space for your favorite book titles, which you could keep switching on a regular basis. On top of that this circular library will also offer you a rocking chair's experience and act like your own personal reading cradle while you're reading or getting ready for an afternoon nap. This modern furniture item can be yours for £6000, but you can't have it shipped to your door. Instead you'll have to hire its creator to make it for you, which is going to be equally expensive, but very rewarding if you love books. Or you could buy a Kindle and one of those rocking chairs we've shown you here before instead. Via Thomas Mills

11:02 pm in Chairs & Bar Stools, Design, Modern Design, Modern Furniture by chris

Ready for a new rocking chair design? How about one that can change shapes and even accommodate more than one person at a time? The Sway rocking chair, designed by Markus Krauss, is one such project. This seating solution will rock you all day long and, in order to keep things interesting, it can offer you two different shapes that can better fit with your swaying needs. And in case you'll want to share your sways with anyone else, well that's possible too, since the Sway has the extra space other rocking chairs lack to let you sway with your better half.
