The Swing shower system is based on a simple idea that draws conceptual parallels between the natural widening of water flow and similar shapes found in the amplified sound of brass instruments. The inspiration can be found in the conical shape of the shower head, but no matter your taste, in chrome and matte-black finishes it’s sure to compliment classic and contemporary bathrooms alike.

This bathroom concept by Barcelona’s Art-Tic Design Studio features customized pieces molded to give the illusion that bathroom elements like the sink, toilet, and bathtub are fused with the surrounding structural elements like the floor and walls. Pictured here, elements blend seamlessly with the concrete floor almost as if they have pushed their way up from the ground.

It’s a modular world and thus we need modular fittings everywhere, yes even in the loo! What we have here is the Modular Shower Unit; a panel that combines all the basic necessities into one comfortable stand. You can configure it to add in a foot shower, washbasin, rain shower, mirror etc. Basically customize it to suit your needs. The idea behind this unit is to cater to small families who may or may not want all the custom fittings in their bathroom, space crunch being the main reason behind their mindset.

You don’t have to do an entire remodel on your bathroom to create a spa atmosphere. Adding a few essentials to your decor and hiding the clutter will ensure that you find tranquility whether you’re soaking in the tub or just trying to escape the chaos of a busy home.

Choose a Theme

Spas will rarely have mismatched towels or a confusing theme so you may need to purchase a few new essentials. A natural garden, blue lagoon or Asian theme are just a few ideas to get you started.

Add a Little Nature

Vases with fresh flowers, a hanging fern or some bamboo are all fabulous ways to bring nature into your bathroom. These living things breathe life into your space and promote a calming environment.

Pay Attention to Detail

You don’t have to spend a fortune on decor. Roll a few towels and place them in a basket, add a small table with a tabletop fountain and make sure that you place a few soy candles around the room.

Eliminate Clutter

Spas are simplistic and so should your bathroom be. Instead of having things laying around your sink, tuck them away somewhere. There are simple storage solutions available to accommodate even the smallest bathrooms. Remember, a spa is a peaceful place. If your eyes come to rest on a pile of towels on the floor or an assortment of hair products laying around, the entire aesthetic of the room is compromised.

Soapy is an innovative shower system (wall, hand and rail shower) that integrates the soap dispenser with a difference. What this means is that liquid soap is dispensed at the push of a button and mixed with the shower water. So basically when you are soaked enough, you simply push the button and soapy water is dispensed. I guess by the time you lather up, regular water comes out, allowing you a good rinse. I find it more of a spa – gym shower kinda thing, don’t you?

The Eaux Eaux sink is quite a take on the oceanic wave! Its simple form, in one fluid motion, integrates the spout into the basin. It’s like the flow and ebbing of the waves in a synchronized dance. The base is secured into a recessed counter top while the stainless steel body is glam-ed up with a blush of paint. The overall effect is perfect!

Using the standard urinal by a wheelchair bound male can be quite a challenge. To make the experience more dignified, hygienic and comfortable, designer Fuming Wu has come up with the Movable Urinal. It is a detachable attachment that un-hinges and comes down to the seated position. Waste disposal and rinsing can be done easily, thanks to its clever plumbing design. I am sure many will agree!

The Movable Urinal is a 2011 IDEA Awards entry.

The Bathboard is a too-good-to-be-true design. It has all the makings of an excellent bathtub; one, which folds up and holds enough water for a good soak. But my only worry is that will the framework take the weight of water + the person using it? For the moment lets just consider this, the tub is made from foam rubber treated to be very elastic and spongy. It weighs less than 3 kgs and juts out only 12-cms from the wall. A flexible drainpipe starts above the central point of the tub, making it easy to fold up. So back again to my question, can we have this design workable for the cause of bathing luxury in limited spaces? If yes, then I surely want one.
