The My Space cardboard folding play area in the images below doesn't have anything to do with the popular social networking site "My Space." Instead this design is made specifically for children and their busy parents. My Space can be folded into a bunch of interesting decors that can inspire you kid's imagination and it can be a perfect solution for a crowded apartment. Add some color to the cardboard and your children will have a playground set-up right inside your house which will be open at any time of day ready to put a big smile on their faces. My Space isn't meant to replace actual outdoor playgrounds, but can be an alternative for rainy days. Designed by Liya Mairson, the pop-up folding My Space playground isn't available in stores but, with enough patience and plenty of materials you could build this yourself. Via DesignBoom

Nucleo is the brainchild of its chief designer, Piergiorgio Robino. He began working with open source software to create his design projects, eventually connecting to other designers who spoke his language. All of them work on unique projects, but collaborate when they need creative inspiration. The team has entered a number of award shows, exhibitions, and several members have traveled to educational institutions as guest lectures. The above pictured Resin Fossil Table is a new project from Nucleo. It features an internally glowing core that glows through the Tetris-like, blocky structure. Its random, rigid form speaks to the modern minimalism popular in contemporary design.

The Green Faucet concept in the images below will not impress you with the overall design but with its remarkable ingenuity. The Green Faucet will almost read you thoughts, although what it does is to interpret hand motion and offer according responses. Therefore you wouldn't need to actually touch the faucet to wash your hands as it will simply interpret your gestures and offer you a quick, but highly hygienic bathroom experience. The Green Faucet will let you control water pressure and temperature with simple gestures, and, like that's not enough, the faucet comes with a couple of airblades that will dry your hands immediately after washing them. So, how many Green Faucets will you order for you house or business? Via James Dyson Awards

Coffee tables are something you spend a lot of time looking at, and perhaps that explains why I am so fascinated by them. I always have my eye out for unique ones that are more than the rectangular norm. In fact mine is not a coffee table at all, but actually a trunk that easily opens for hidden storage space (yes!)
So it’s easy to see why the White Desert Coffee Table caught my eye. Designed by Karim Mekhtigian for Hid’n by La Roche, this linear table dips in the middle forming a bowl of sorts for fruit, candles, flowers, even a beer or two! I love the possibilities and the design looks pretty cool too.
What do you think – do you like an unique table like this or do you prefer something more traditional?
