White Sea Cucumbers Audio Speakers Add a Touch of Pipes to Your House

9:45 pm in Home Accessories, Home Appliances, Home Theater, Speakers, TV Stands & Home Theater by chris

The other day we've shown you how customizable the pipeline seating system really is and today we're going to keep the same theme, but this time around we're adding a touch of technology to those pipes. The ikyaudio White Sea Cucumbers audio speakers are made from PVC and are available for just $199. In case white isn't your color then those Sea Cucumbers can come in red or yellow too. Inside each pipe you'll find a 3-inch magnesium/aluminum alloy full range driver, and you can expect a frequency response of 80-20,000 and the bass port is at the end of the pipe stand. The speakers are non-powered which means an additional amplifier may also be required. Before making up your mind, check out the video clip after the break showing these pipe speakers in action. House of Concrete

8:41 pm in House, Modern, SixDW: A New Beginning by SixDifferentWays

He can huff and he can puff as much as he wants, but the big bad wolf definitely won’t be able to blow down a house of concrete.

Designed by Spanish architect group A-cero, the Concrete House II is located just outside of Madrid. The outside walls are made of dark gray concrete and built with strips of grass between them to create the illusion that the house is actually part of land. With an indoor spa and swimming pool, home theater, wine room and parking garage, the Concrete House II is a luxurious retreat. Even some of the modern decor and furniture appears to be made from concrete!

A-cero’s blog tells us that the Concrete House II is a single story home that measures at 1600 square meters, which is about 17,222 square feet. Imagine living in a space that big. It would be great for a good ol’ game of hide-and-seek…

So what do you think – would you live in the Concrete House II?

The Plastic Diet: Day 4

Lots of plastic packaging I'm four days into my plastic diet challenge, and already two unexpected bonuses of this challenge have started to manifest. By reducing my waste, I'm also saving money and following a more healthy diet...

Designer Spotlight: Elli Popp

11:07 am in Designer Spotlight by Lauren

Elli Popp is all about design – shapes, patterns, textures. She creates wallpaper and accessories for the modern home, but only for the daring. Each pattern follows a unifying theme while drawing on neo-romantic influences and vibrant colors. Her nearly retro designs are cute, funky and individually tailored to meet the needs of each client. She is always open to exploring new forms of beauty in her work. Her above pictured Foxy Flowers Tea Set is a delicate ceramic set that is a throwback to retro design. It combines old Victorian china design with retro 70s patterns to bring out a truly modern tea set.

Eating Vegan: Green Living Plus All the Healthy Side Effects

7:33 am in Green Living, Health, Natural, Organic, food by Katie Nielsen

A vegan diet is one that excludes the consumption of any animal products, including meat, eggs, and dairy products. In addition, some vegans also do not consume any foods processed using animal products (for instance, bone char is often used in processing refined white sugar). Vegan diets tend to be inherently green, since they rely heavily [...]

Work Unit Quietly Brings Work at Home

7:08 am in Design, Home Office Furniture, Office Furniture, Small Home Furniture, office by chris

At least once in a while every one of us has to bring some work at home and that's when an office space would come in handy. But not all homes have enough retail estate to accommodate a real office, which means you'll have to adapt and make the most of your actual living space. That's where the Work Unit comes in place and, in case you'll be working at home more than once, you'll want to get it yourself. The Work Unit is comprised of a desk, a storage cabinet, a monitor screen and a light source. Once you pin them up on a wall of your choosing you'll be able to go about your business straight from the coziness of your own home. Would you buy the Work Unit if it were available in stores now? Theory Inspired Design

venn-table

Remember Venn Diagrams? Even if you can’t recall what exactly they are for, you’ve definitely seen them before. And while they can certainly be useful, who knew they could also be art?

Swedish design firm Outofstick (cool name!) that’s who. This unique table features gorgeous hues in a fun, nesting design inspired by the Venn diagram. Each is constructed from colored waterjet-cut glass and iron legs.

A little nerdy but a lot of fun, who could see using these in there place?
