Limited Edition Chippensteel Chair Exhibiting At Moss Gallery

Any furniture that has been inspired from the notorious "Chippendales" will get the votes from the fairer sex for sure! Check out the Limited Edition Chippensteel Chair which unlike its human counterparts plays down the cheese factor. Exhibiting currently at NYC's Moss Gallery, the Chippensteel series uses designer Oskar Zieta's FiDU technology where "every shape cut from steel sheet can be inflated into a 3d object. It means that the same technology can be applied to any complexity of form. The contours of the metal sheets are cut using a laser, welded together by a robot and then inflated at high pressure to form a 3d object." Quite a mouthful but we still give these visually striking chairs a big thumbs up.

Designer Spotlight: Jeongseob Kim

Jeongseob Kim is an edgy young designer who wants to shake up how people view furniture. His goal is to change perceptions. A TV is not necessarily a rectangle; a chair does not have to have four legs. He wants to go back to that very moment when these assumptions were created and mix up the impressions by breaking through stereotypes. The above pictured Bubble table is inspired by the increasingly smaller units that make up matter, atoms, subatomic material and on and on until infinity. It inquires how these small units come together and form solid material, and its conceptual abstraction works both as a piece of art or a functional piece.

LG Solar Hybrid Air Conditioner To Debut In Korea Soon

If you are one those poor souls who are toiling in this sweltering heat and tired of the ever mounting electricity bills then I feel your pain. However there is still hope as LG recently announced a new Eco-friendly solar hybrid air conditioner. Debuting soon in Korea, the AC provides up to 70 watts of power per hour through solar cell modules which are fixed on the top. A unit if used over an extension of 10 years can reduce 212KG of CO2 which is equivalent to 780 pine trees! Something to think about and in case you are wondering, no the girl doesn't come with the AC!
