We usually don't cover art installations on Furniture Fashion, but we have to make an exception for the stunning CDSea Installation by Bruce Munro. As you can see from the captivating pictures, the installation forms a path made up entirely of 600,000 CDs. You can check out the meandering path in a Wiltshire field in the UK. The installation will be up for the next two months and then the cds will be recycled.

The inimitable London designer Ross Lovegrove is back to what he does best i.e. designing products that transcend the mundane and emphasize on reinvention. The visually striking Andromeda LED pendant lamp has been designed for japanese lighting brand Yamagiwa who are marketing it for both domestic and public space. The lamp is made up of LED clusters that are embedded in the crossing parts of the hard polyurethane foam structure and the lamp also features mirrors that can be repositioned reflect the light in different directions.

A month into my oyster mushroom growing kit, and I'm pleased to report that I am very close to my first crop of mushrooms... It is always interesting to see what type of objects can be made into artistic statements. These airplane trolleys are the very ones that slow up plane boarding to provide food for passengers. Typically they are pretty beaten up just from the normal wear and tear associated with the airline industry. Andreas Flach from ND Designworks has shaped the trolleys into accessories for the house. The 22 carat gold example has gold leaf applied and then varnished on the object. More information: here.

Gone are the days when office spaces automatically translated into dreary unimaginative cubicles that stifle the mind rather than give it a creative push. The Igloo Workstation from Derin Design has a highly unique and non-confirming shape. The Igloo may not accommodate the entire workforce but it sure will give each employee breathing space. Kudos to the design team for offering an exciting visual space by obliterating traditional design bastions.
