35 Bathroom Renovation Ideas
5:00 pm in Bathroom, Bathroom Design & Furniture, Ideas by John
I am always looking for bathroom renovation ideas since every space seems to be a different size, has different obstacles in its construction path and needs to meet the expectations of the home owner for every day function and luxury. The best way to get started is to look at as many pictures as possible to determine likes and dislikes along with a good understand of daily needs and what sorts of luxuries you enjoy. These pictures come from Spec-Net and feature a variety of full bathroom views to close ups of toilets, tubs and vanities. Hopefully, there are a few gems that spark inspiration towards possible future ideas. Via.

Designer Spotlight: Mickus Projects
3:11 am in Designer Spotlight by Lauren

Mickus Projects is a relatively new design firm in the neighborhood, with just four years of product design under its belt. However, in those four years, Mickus Projects has managed to create pieces that harness the creative power of unique materials, superb craftsmanship, and the latest digital technologies. They strive to minimize the impact their production process has on the environment. Their self-professed mixture of “function and flirtation” makes their products fun and fresh, and easily incorporated into any modern home. The above pictured Relief Chair updates sculpting with digital technologies, and uses solid structure combined with contoured textures for a tactile and visual event.

Is it a light? Is it a coffee table? Or is it a chest? Wait its all three and more. Meet the Cubic Lighting Unit that takes multi-tasking to a whole new level. Designed by Sandro Agosti, Raphael Steiner and Marc Zürcher, this one moonlights as a coffee table, soft lighting, a chest and even as a holder. An Example of Cool One Story House Plans
5:00 pm in Architecture, Cool, Home, House, House Plans, Ideas by John
My first comment is that I wish I had more pictures of this project. These one story house plans feature a place to be built in Ojai, California. Ojai is a town of 8,600 people according to the 2003 census that is 33 miles from Santa Barbara and 83 miles from Los Angeles. The design features a sprawling one story approach which offers great views throughout the house. The backyard has a cool patio that highlights a shade tree in its center. Via.

Testing the Limits of Matter
5:07 am in SixDW: A New Beginning by sf210
Yup, this is one interesting exhibit. This series is the work of design students from Venice and San Marino. The key ingredients are bread, rice, and licorice. Not materials you expect to find in a chair.
While this chair is one I probably wouldn’t want to sit in, it is pretty intriguing nonetheless. This series was designed to research what the limits of matter are, and the energy, chemical processes, and results would be it would lead to. What do you think?

The Element Coffee Table is one of those unique pieces of furniture that can appeal to both modern and traditional design sensibilities. Retailing on the CB2 website for $349.00, this one has quite a sculptural presence and is made of a medley of materials including marble, granite, stone and natural fibers. You can order it in stone floor polish or go for a more natural look by opting for natural intonations with car wax.

Designer Spotlight: Charlie Crowther-Smith
3:10 am in Designer Spotlight by Lauren

Working as a freelance designer isn’t easy, but Charlie Crowther-Smith makes it look just that. His one-man operation may appear on the small side, but his studio workshop is going non-stop. He is a Bristol-based designer, and takes commissions as well as produces more commercial items. Intent upon working with local designers, Crowther-Smith is organizing an exhibit this summer to showcase the best and brightest in Bristol interior design. His style is eclectic, using hardwood as his material of choice. He spruces this up by bringing out the natural grain or by painting the wood with whimsical, bright colors.
