The Classic Tepee Tent from DWR

10:47 pm in Patio, Patio & Outdoor Furniture by Will

I know we are Home Products, but the Tepee from DWR is a home all its own. This modern version of the classic tepee from designer Dave Ellis who spent 10 years working in the canvas business before creating his own line of tents and tepees in 1982, created this stylish design that is perfect for adventurers of all ages. Unique to this design is the sewn-in floor liner that allows proper air flow, while ensuring that nothing accidentally leaves or enters the Tepee making it easier to see where the poles should be placed when building the Tepee. The exterior canvas is tightly woven, preshrunk 100% cotton Army Duck that's finished with a Sunforger baked-in process to make the canvas mildew resistant and water repellent. The Three R’s of Easter: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

10:02 pm in Green, Green Living, food, holidays by Katie Nielsen

Aside from the religious significance of Easter, the holiday also presents an opportunity to celebrate the rebirth of the Earth. And while Easter just wouldn’t be Easter without the iconic emblems of the holiday including Easter baskets and egg hunts, following the 3 eco-friendly “R’s” can significantly make the holiday greener. For The Love Of Coffee & Our Planet

mug-hug2

That’s the slogan from the makers of today’s genius product design selection – Mug Hug.  I first heard about this over at Design Milk today, and instantly had to know more. As a self-proclaimed coffee addict I am always looking for ways to make enjoying my favorite brew easier.mug-hug

So what’s the big deal?  I usually stop for coffee in the morning, not because I enjoy the extra stop but because of my lack of positive experience with travel mugs.  The plastic coated ones always seem to taste like plastic and the metal ones never seem to get all the way clean no matter how many times you wash them. So the idea of being able to use just about any mug in my cabinet, snap the lid on, and be on my way sounds pretty good to me!  And for those of you who are loyal to your local morning spot, check out the Mug Hug website for a list of what size coffees from each establishment this convenient lid will fit on.  It just may prevent those annoying spills in the car or even worse on your desk!

SodaStream Starter Kit Review

3:08 am in 未分类 by Kristen Banker

I was recently contacted by the company Sodastream,  maker of an at-home water carbonation system.  They asked me if I would be interested in trying their product. What arrived was their Starter Kit (129.00 value), a nicely designed black and silver model complete with two 1-liter capped bottles and one 60-L carbonator.  (The Sodastream web [...]

Designer Spotlight: Amelie Onzon

1:32 am in Designer Spotlight by Lauren

Amelie Onzon relies heavily on socially significant concepts to inform her unique furniture design. Her “In Vivo Exposure” line, pictured above, is designed to use form to question phobias, and work phobia patients through their fears by exposing them. Using sheets of fabric, she creates space – either a safe, surrounding space for those afraid of heights, or an adjustable, airy space for those afraid of confined spaces. Her other concept pieces include duck feeders and baths that are designed based on questions of our love/hate relationship with animals, and accessories designed around teenage concerns about their changing bodies. Although highly conceptual, her work is full of life, exploration, and creativity.

Designer Spotlight: altreforme

3:40 am in Designer Spotlight by Lauren

Inspired by the love that car-enthusiasts have for their vehicles, altreforme designs and creates industrial style furniture. They try to capture the intensity and passion that can be evoked from the metal frame and interior of the automobile. Using metal sheets once destined for the industrial car manufacturing world, altreforme reshapes them into emotionally-evocative sculptures that can be either art or functional furniture. The above pictured Liquirizia multi-chair unit is a smooth form seating concept, allowing back-to-back chance meetings along its minimalist, metal spine. The Monza mirror below incorporates emotion into the cold, industrial design that proliferates modern furniture.

melanie-porter-chairs

Today I bring you the fabulous work of Melanie Porter. Familiar yet surprising, it’s her combination of classic design with unexpected elements that really caught and continued to hold my attention.

melanie-porter-chair2

Melanie worked as a knitwear designer for 10 years, and that influence is clearly seen here.  After working with international fashion, Melanie moved on to create the furniture you see here.  Each starts as an existing chair the designer has found and is then reupholstered to be a unique work of art.  See more from Melanie here.

Electric Elevator Murphy Bed from the LiftBed Company

11:13 pm in Beds, Furniture, Home Furnishings, Murphy Beds, Small Home Furniture by Will

The Electric Murphy Bed may just be the most space saving thing I have seen yet. This elevator bed from the LiftBed Company of Germany hides away in the ceiling with a push button remote control that requires a two-finger locking safety action. Unlike the conventional Murphy bed that fold from the wall the Electric Murphy Bed literally takes up no space and ascends to store flush with the ceiling when not in use. Available from Flying Beds
