Roulade

3:50 am in SixDW: A New Beginning by SixDifferentWays

roulade
The Roulade is my design find today, and I think it’s a really great one. In what I can best describe as Togo meets Chesterfield, this piece combines multiple styles and influences into one captivating and intriguing piece. It’s the work of Kilo Design, a Copenhagen based, idea-driven industrial design firm.

There’s not too much information available about the Roulade yet, but these images are enough to have me already wanting one (at least!) for myself.

Furniture made from Advanced Composite Materials by GAEAforms

The snazzy modern furniture from GAEAforms caught my eye, what can I say I love the clean lines and lustrous finishes that accentuate their diverse color palate. Since 2003 GAEAforms has worked to advance the use of composite materials and the functional shapes that can be made from them. Here are examples of their "01 Storage Unit" in Yellow, the "Bookshelf" in White, and the "Step Bench" in Black. See more here.

Designer Spotlight: Tiger Tandem Design

4:42 am in Designer Spotlight by Lauren

Using high contrast colors, unique contours and organic forms framed by simple, minimalistic lines, Tiger Tandem Design crafts unique pieces that would work with any modern decor. Hoping to strike a balance between hand-crafted artisan pieces and the modern lines that Ikea is known for, the pieces are all stylish and attractive. The above pictured Tadpole Table is designed to fit snugly around the contours of your sofa, hugging it with a wavy, rounded look. It is perfectly balanced and would look just as stunning as a cocktail table or accent piece adorning a modern lounge.

Legos Make It To The Boardroom

4:37 am in SixDW: A New Beginning by SixDifferentWays

This table is the work of ABGC Architecture & Design for new ad agency Boys and Girls.  The design firm was asked to create something “playful but not juvenile” and this captivating table is the result.

Legos are a definite wow factor in this office, if only for the reason of complete unexpectedness. This is certainly not your typical boardroom, but my guess is that it certainly isn’t hurting the creative process.  The pieces are covered with glass so there’s no building Lego castles during staff meetings, but nonetheless a pretty cool table.
