The “Z Side Table” is a nice departure from more traditional table models. The design was made by criss-crossing two letter Z’s and then affixing a base on top and on bottom. This product is available from Hellman Chang and can be found here.

I have a feeling someone at MotoArt took a long look at an aircraft graveyard and saw more than a pile of parts. Here are some of their desks made for wing sections that have been fitted with glass tops to create a classy and unusual look. In addition to the series of executive desks, MotoArt offers several credenzas that compliment and give you a place to do some storing and displaying. See the entire collection of office furniture from MotoArt here.

Known as the Malibu 5 project from Kanner Architects, this stunning Malibu home embodies many of today’s accepted design practices. Construction materials consist of environmentally friendly and recycled materials. The house is vertically stacked in a hillside in Malibu, California with an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. The home minimizes energy use through large solar protected windows which limit the need for artificial lighting. The roof harbors photovoltaic solar panels to harvest the sun’s energy. Ground level concrete floors act as heat sinks pulling energy in during the day and then releasing it at night. Motion sensors ensure that lights are not on while a room is not in use. The results are amazing in that the home is contributing power back to the local grid. This Malibu home has 3,300 square feet, 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Via.

As of yet, the young Indigo design firm has only a few products to their name – but they are solid, attractive and modern spirited pieces. The two designers at the helm of this project have been at it for two and a half years, citing their inspiration as the elements and natural forms in nature. Their Nautilus chair is a simple but effective design with a unique silhouette and comfortable but minimal form. And the multiple shelving units they have created for today’s modern home theater show that they have their fingers on the pulse of today’s interior design demands.

It is hard to look good standing next to beautiful women, but the PW-747 Cowling Bar from MotoArt pulls it off nicely. When it is party time or just after a long day on the job, the Cowling Bar made from an authentic Pratt & Whitney jet engine cowling once used to power a Boeing 747 is a great place to gather for a social beverage. In addition to the obvious “cool factor” there are plenty of usable shelves for storage, and a hardwood bar counter top for mixing drinks. Other features include a 1/2″ tempered glass top supported by mirror polished aluminum stand-offs. Each bar is custom fabricated from the folks at MotoArt.

These 4 contemporary chandeliers come from Katz and were created by designer Stanislav Katz. Each example is different without a theme being central in the design of all four. The blimp made me think about the rock band Led Zeppelin and the artwork on their CD covers where the “zeppelin” is a common symbol. The colors of the second one made me think of “Neapolitan Ice Cream” though there are more than three colors in the product. These modern chandeliers are interesting, because when you first see them your own thoughts will develop about their inspiration, which are completely different than mine. Via.

New to the line for COR this year is the “Swing” armchair that has served its place as a furniture icon. From the 60s to the 80s, the “swing armchair” was considered the embodiment of the modern recliner and it still looks every bit as good today. After 40 years it has not lost any of its desirability, the combination of armchair and stool make Swing a sitting experience singular in kind. See the entire collection from COR as well as the Lava Sofa we featured in our 15 Amazing Modern Sofa Designs.
