Acrylic Wine Presentation Cabinet by Creosa

Wine is in as is displaying wine for a party in the home or tasting at a local bistro. This wine presentation cabinet comes from the Austrian company, Creosa. Its design draws upon the “display rack” concept familiar in retail. In this example the base is made of concrete and the presentation area is made of acrylic. The product can be found here.

Trend Spotlight: Summer Cottage

There’s nothing wrong with daydreaming about summer cottaging while you’re at home, possibly snowed-in by a blizzard or rained-out by a sudden thunderstorm. Modern interior design trends have taken up this longing with a passion, and have created the summer cottage movement. With this look, you can capture the spirit of a cottage, with its weather-worn wood, jumble of flowery patterns and mash-up of styles. Soft purples, pinks and yellows pepper this trend, usually dotted onto fabrics as flowers. Think about what makes your cottage, or your friends’, so great, and try incorporating some of the elements into your home for a rustic, relaxing, and nostalgic modern atmosphere.

Opulent Bathrooms by THG

The first thing that comes to mine when I review the Marquise Collection from THG is the opulent bathrooms these products will create. Putting the visual “first glance” ideas aside, there is an interesting story as to the collection’s influence. The bathtub is actually art deco in influence being inspired by the pattern on a French Chateaux Insignia that contains a bay leaf garland in gold décor. Via.

Umarmung Traditional Japanese Floor Sitting Couch

“Umarmung” was a piece originally commissioned for a private residence in Tokyo, Japan. The floor sitting couch is perhaps the first of its kind. The Zaisu chair has graced Japanese culture for centuries creating awareness around the world with its floor sitting design. The natural evolution is for “floor sitting design” to move into other furniture objects, in this case a couch. Christhoph Vogl had this to say about the project, “Umarmung is inspired by the long tradition of floor-sitting culture in Japan where the connection between the body and conversations is not restricted to universal seat height and conventional definition of sofa”.
